I've seen "Little Darlings" used in many posts. What does it mean? |

Long ago, I was a working aboard a freighter making runs out of Miami down thru the canal and the west coast of south america. There was an chief electrician working aboard from New Orleans, Ralph Griffin. Anyway, one day Ralph and I were chatting about this and that and he asked me about my girlfriends. "Well", I replied, "I do have this little whore I'm seeing back home" "Tut, tut Johnny", Ralph replied, "Never call them whores, call them 'little darlings'". "Why chief?", I asked. "Because", Ralph replied, "years from now we'll meet again somewhere and start to reminense. And 9 times of of 10, when I ask you what ever happened to that "whore" you were going out with, you end up telling me 'ah, I married her'". "So" Ralph sagely advised, "always,always call them 'little darlings'". |
