The idea about scanning important docs into a separate file folder on the computer is brilliant!
Those of us who travel with laptop computers should take note, but should also make sure the folder is password-protected. I would add a list of important U.S. and C.R. phone numbers to that folder. For instance, everyone should have the contact numbers for their banks and credit card service centers immediately at hand, as well as phone numbers/addresses for the Consular Service of the U.S. Embassy in La Uruca C.R., their closest U.S. consular office, of the C.R. Embassy, emergency physician and family contact information, even numbers of helth insurance policies.
