I'm a newbie (approximately month-and-a-half) to CRT. I have booked a flight to CR and will stay at SL Oct. 23 to Oct. 29. Thank you for all the information that you have given me. I currently have printed approximately 50 pages of your tips that I review, and have read all threads several times. Since I am going by myself, I will be prepared, safe, flexible and fun. I will give respect to all, and will cover your back if necessary.

Until now I haven't posted anything. Since I have never been to CR I didn't have anything to add. Having done searches on many sites, in conjunction with CRT, I came across something that I have not seen on these boards (although maybe it has been posted) that I believe could be of interest. Before leaving create a folder on your computer and scan copies of important documents into that folder (passport, credit cards, drivers license, birth certificate). By doing so, you will have access to copies of all your documents by e-mail anywhere in the world. If necessary they should be easy to access and print.

I look forward to meeting y'all in October.

Health & happiness.

Hola Santas,

A hearty welcome to the best source of information of mongering in CR and the cameraderie of the greatest group of guys on the planet. You sound like an incredibly intelligent guy. You availed yourself of a membership right away, and obviously have prepared yourself well for your trip.

If there is anything I may be able to help answer please don't hestitate to PM me.

I like your tagline:

Reminds me of another in the same theme,

"It isn't the size of the magician's wand, but the expertese in the way he uses it."

I think I like yours better.

El Lamero

Hey Santas Bro... Welcome, welcome.

The idea about scanning important docs into a separate file folder on the computer is brilliant! :D Those of us who travel with laptop computers should take note, but should also make sure the folder is password-protected. I would add a list of important U.S. and C.R. phone numbers to that folder. For instance, everyone should have the contact numbers for their banks and credit card service centers immediately at hand, as well as phone numbers/addresses for the Consular Service of the U.S. Embassy in La Uruca C.R., their closest U.S. consular office, of the C.R. Embassy, emergency physician and family contact information, even numbers of helth insurance policies.

I wish I could be there to witness your first glimpse into the Life. I second El Lamero's offer of assistance. If there is a question I can answer for you, don't hesitate to send me a private message (PM) or post to this thread.

Don't forget your CRT Membership Card when you travel to C.R.! And again, welcome! :D

About a month before you travel post on the "roll calls " section. I have put together fishing trips on the pacific side and a have found a wingman for RBC100 type adventures in the local joints.
Also PM members in your area, meet for a beer and get loads CR information.
All the best
