just some advice. My first trip and I was well prepared thanks to a couple members tips. I thought I would pass along one I haven't seen. the airline Airmartin, overbooks consistently. I was invloved in 3 flights, all were overbooked, all offered money to delay a day. Needless to say, I screwed up and passed on alot of money to not stay in CR one more day. When you are at your terminal, get ready to run to the front for a free hotel and money to stay another day.

Overbooked flights are common these days. They usually start at $250 plus hotel. If no one bites, they increase it by $50, in iterations. If I can handle losing one day, I'd wait until they exceed the cost of the ticket.

Getting "paid" to spend an extra day in SJO would be nice and a no-brainer. :)
But it's not always easy money, I got overbooked in ATL a few weeks ago, they gave 3 of us 400.00 vouchers and booked us in a hotel that was FULL, froze our asses off waiting for a shuttle that never arrived  meanwhile the airport closed for the night (midnight) and it took forever to find a Delta agent to find me a room in a hotel that actually had a room, it was 2:30 AM before I got in bed and had to be back to airport by 7:30 AM for a morning flight. Worth 400 bucks I guess but still a major pain in the ass.
Wish I'd had more time in ATL I'd have gotten Ruffnutz or Witling to send a hot hooker to my hotel. :D

well the average offer of the 3 I had was $250, hotel, car, and a ticket for the next day. The offers in Miami I turned down in a heartbeat. I still can't believe I turned down the offer from CR, to get back to job that could have missed me for one more day. It won't happen again.

The first timei went to CR i let them bump me and two other guys at Dallas for four hours. We got a $500.00 voucher each, first class from Dallas to SJO and $30.00 each for food vouchers at the airport. Pretty hard for three guys to eat up $90.00 in 4 hours. This was on American Airlines and it hasn't happened again. My buddy was pretty brutal at this negociation; in fact kinda of embarrassing to me but we did walk away pretty happy.
