Gents, first of i like to say i love to travel and see different cultures with different people,, therefore i travel a lot as much as i can, i've been in phillipines thailand hong kong and japan. I MUST SAY it was hell of an experience for me.
I Live in usa/florida but i was born in istanbul.. i just came back from angeles city and it was really fun. only thing i hate about asian trips are the long ass hours i sat in plane ,,, Somehow today i found this forum and decided to become a member..
I hear a lot about costa rica some says i love it some says it is way too expensive... so i prepared good questions and i would like experts to help us (newbies) out about it...
Here are my questions.
1.What hotels are ideal for newbies close to action
Hotels which permit prostitutes to accompany you to your room range in cost from $28.00/night to over $100.00/night. These include CRT V.I.P. sponsors which offer CRT V.I.P. members great discounts. Here's a partial list of chica-friendly hotels near the heart of the action
Hotel la Amistad (*discount for CRT V.I.P.s)
Sportsmen's Lodge (* good CRT V.I.P. discount, ladies on premises, bar/restaurant, pool table, Golden Tee Live machine, satellite sports, top shelf rooms in new section, but expensive)
Hotel del Rey - No CRT discount, nor is it a sponsor. $10.00 per girl per room visit "guest charge" This is Ground Zero, the "belly of the Beast."
Hotel Castillo (* CRT V.I.P. sponsor, nice bar/restaurant attached to hotel, some reasonably-priced ladies on-site).
Hotel Presidente (*CRT V.I.P. sponsor, American-style amenities. No guest fee, but you are limited to one girl at a time. Severe dress code for the chicas, and no chicas are permitted to work the bar or casino.)
Casa Vino - Bachelor pad apartment. No chica fees, no limits. Steam shower, projection TV, very nice and 1/2 block from Zona Blue).
Hotel Clarion Amon Plaza - Discount arranged through Mr. Nixon Netto in the casino. Tolerant of prostitutes but behave yourself.
Hostel Marueco - A massage parlor by day, a hostal (not like a backpacker hostel) by night. Very inexpensive. (*CRT V.I.P. sponsor)
Hotel Freebird - Excellent value, a hotel oriented toward our hobby. Inexpensive, good location. (*CRT V.I.P. sponsor, great discounts).
2.What are cost for girls,(if so is it like phillipines? such as you can barfine a girl and can keep her till the next day and just tip her at the end)
Service ranges from $12.00/half hour in some local places to $200.00 + for a Penthouse Pet quality girl in one of the ripoff strip clubs. Fortunately, negotiation is effective for any independent girl; Massage Parlors have fixed prices). No bar fine as in Asia.
3.What are the cost for drinks
Drinks range from American prices in places like the del Rey, Key Largo, Sportsmen's...all the way to "it's so cheap I'll be an alcoholic by next Tuesday.
4.Will i be alone in costa rica or are there many monger like me?
Because it's so close to the U.S., there are numerous mongers from all over N. America swarming the Gulch. Stop by either the Sportsmen's Lodge or the Hotel del Rey around 5:30 any afternoon; you'll probably meet numerous CRT guys.
5.How much should we tip?
Restaurants and bars automatically add a 10% service charge to your check, so it isn't necessary to tip. Most local folks round the check up to the nearest 100 CRC and leave a few small coins on the table.
Tipping isn't really customary in C.R. but I always tip the massage girls a little something, usually around 10-20% of the fee. Room maids get a minimum of 500 CRC/day, unless you're a cheapskate. Tip porters, skycaps and taxi drivers $1.00 (500 CRC) per suitcase. Do not overtip, it just makes you look like a fool.
6.What are the most scams we should avoid
Costa Rica is fairly safe in terms of crime. Pickpockets are a problem. Armed robberies are on the rise. Chicas attempting to steal from the mini-bar or overcharge you are fairly common practices. Don't pay in advance (except at massage parlors). Don't wear a lot of gold jewelry or diamond rings. Don't flash your cash. Travel with other guys to the tico joints. Take taxis at night. You should be okay.
7.WHAT IS THE DRILL? how it works regards to meeting a girl.?
At the Hotel del Rey, Key Largo dance club or Sportsmen's Lodge, simply walk up to the girl, smile and try to talk with her. None of the three places I've mentioned are like brothels, where there's a "line-up." Rather, it's like any bar situation anywhere...except the girls are hungry, horny hookers.
The massage parlors are a case of "Find her, Phuck her and forget her...maybe." Just choose one, pay the fee and go.
8.What is the current exchange dollar versus costa rican money?
Generally, there are +/- 500 CRC to the U.S. dollar. Last week, the exchange rate went up to 550 CRC/dollar. Try

Best places to exchange dollars for colones are casinos, public banks (like the Banco de Costa Rica) or private banks, like Scotia Bank. DO NOT exchange money in the baggage claim area at the airport. Bad exchange rate.
9.WHAT ARE DO'S and DON'TS.
Well, here are a couple generic behavior suggestions:
DO:- Learn as much Spanish as possible. No, it's not an absolute requirement, but you'll have more fun and get better deals if you know a little about the Spanish language and Latin American culture.
DO read and read this forum. There is a lot of information to be gained here.
DO join V.I.P. You'll pay for the card in discounts your first day in Costa Rica. For instance, you'll save 10% off your room rate at several sponsor hotels. You'll get your Zona Blue room rentals (!) for something like $8.00 lower than somebody who isn't a CRT V.I.P. You can save on food, beverages, ATV tours, sport fishing, escort services and more. Plus, you'll have access to the V.I.P. section of this forum, including an excellent printable map of all the hot spots.
DON'T---
* Wear flashy jewelry
* Get too drunk to function
* Go to Pucho's unless you're looking for a gay disco
* Use illegal drugs in C.R.
* Have sex with minors, which as far as we're concerned is anyone under age 18.
* fail to read everything you can here on Costa Rica Ticas.
