myself, i have not been treated badly there, but they are kind of aloof...some titty bars in the us are like that, and of course some regular bars too. i just dont spend as much in a place that isnt friendly, doesnt make sense to me.

If this fascination for the bartenders stems from the passion some guys have for the chase then it's one thing (actually asking one of them out on a legit "free" date). If this fascination for the bartenders stems from just wanting what you can't have then you might have a problem. If you want a bartender more than the readily available chicas and you plan on paying upwards of 500 for that then I think you're crazy...come to Los Angeles or go to Miami and pull one there out of a club. Or if you want a real tica go to a legit discoteca and pull a college tica. otherwise just stick to the "garotas de programa" portuguese for Prostitutes.

as far as Bar Tabs go....Panama was alot easier on the wallet last month than San Jose, or most of CR.

$2 rum and cokes avail just about anywhere, even in the city and casinos.

Beer anywhere from .75 to $2...some places even 50 cents.

They are already driving up the real estate and living costs most everywhere where theres good beaches or babes o plenty. All nighters in PTY for 150, nice Colombianas or others. Wham bam for 50. MP 90 a hour (nice daytime one in San Fran barrio).

This prolly belongs somewhere else, but Im feeling lazy.....

For sure mike...I'm learning here. I've already made some mistakes on this forum that could have been avoided by reading old posts, (banned topics, asking Q's that have already been answered etc.) I'll be a vet soon enough. Only problem I have with the forum is I can't get CR off my damn mind!

Whether it is or would be a waste of time depends on a lot of factors:

1: If you have a lot of game, money, and/or looks, it might not be a waste of time
2: If you are only here for a short time(1 or 2 weeks), do you really want to spend a lot of time trying to hook up with what may or may not be available when you have hundreds of equally, or close to equally beautiful, sexi, hot chicas that will jump at the chance to get some of your money.
3: Are you the type of person who thrives on the challenge of the near impossible
4: You can not find a single working chica that appeals to you

This topic always comes up and I think its funny....

The answer to the first posed question is an astounding yes. Things that will help you include, but are not limited to: game, money, time, and depending on who, effort. It also helps if you live in CR and visit frequently. If you go for a one night close, odds are you won't get as far as you would if you just were persistent.

Its no different from the States....trust me, I live here and won't name drop, even if it will make me someones hero.....bad experiences aside, I just choose to keep names private. Just trust I've been around the block and know about every employee in there and have for quite some time. These girls DO know about this forum, and that you people talk about them. They get pretty cocky (in comparison to girls you may meet at say pueblo or vertigo with the same qualities) due to this. I even dated one that told me she will tell customers YES that she will go out with them when the bar closes, if they tip well....only to escape out the back door or say "im tired" afterwards. They are in control in this situation and they know it. Treat em like royalty, you'll get royally screwed. Treat em normal and they will take you for what you are.

If you play your cards right and they like you, they will hang out with you. The rest is up to you.

Yeah.....the bartenders. During my June/July trip I had one at the New York Bar who was putting off "positive vibes" for me. She knows me well from previous trips, as I spend a lot of time at the New York Bar. It seemed to me it would end up being a whole lot more aggravation, money and time than it was worth. I think she was a little surprised when I disregarded her vibes.

The most important reason for a 'monger' to hang out in San Jose is to enjoy the bar scene and easy availability of pretty young girls at very reasonable cost and no headaches. Most mongers have only a few days and want a sure thing rather than the chance of meeting someone and getting 'lucky'.

If you are the type who feels he has to 'pick-up' his dates by using charm and wit - great, you need not come to SJ at all just do it where-ever you live or travel to. Even better if you love CR and are a eco-tourist why not work on the stewardess' on TACA/LASCA airlines on the flight in ?

The 'bar' is literally the dividing line between customer and servor. The bartender is hired to do a job well and that is the first priority. With a steady fairly well paid job why would a bartender care to jeopardize her job for some meaningless fling with a customer ? Sure the girls are pretty and very likable but steady well paid work is the key.

Since a casual visitor cannot score with them simply based on charm and good looks the only alternative is heavy spending. As speculated on this board that seems to be in the $500 to $750 region.

For me and for most people that is an absurd price to boost your ego especially as the girls sitting on the same side of the bar as you are, are as cute and ready to be nice to you for a beer and $50 in you room !!!
