Very narrow view -- no offense.
Civilization (if we're talking about relationships and civilization) is primarily driven by the biggest swinging dick on the block doing whatever it takes to catch the most desirable women. And those women in contrast doing whatever it takes to build the the safest, biggest, most comfortable nest that they can. As to what is "normalized", 100 different modern-day societies would give you 100 different answers.
I would argue, as devil's advocate, that the truth is quite the opposite. A whore is someone who has sex with the specific requirement that no love is involved, but for other gains only. Even in "chick movies" the girl ends up with someone who has a lot more to offer than just love (Pretty Woman, Jerry MacGuire) sp?
No offense taken. It is narrow, because the subject is narrow. Everyone wants many things in life, but it is necessary to generalize in order to discuss hive mentality.
Your 'civilization' view is far more narrow, IMHO. It doesn't explain modern western human civilization at all.
The most important thing to a man is sex. It is so important that we don't really understand it any better than males of other species. How would you answer a pure asexual creature asking you just why you have this craving for females? God? Chemistry? Any other equally unfathomable concept?
On the flip side, women have a burning desire to be loved and cuddled. It probably goes along with the mothering instinct, as I have seen many women cuddle their man until they have a Ch*ld to cuddle. Yes, they want money and bills paid and bling, but in all of those chick movies, the chicks end up 'in love' ... not selling themselves for bling. They wouldn't be 'chick movies' if the bitch just whored it out for cash.
Many women settle for bling, and convince themselves that they have love, but they are seldom happy.
Getting back to the topic of the thread, it seems to be consensus what a 'PRO' is ... but there seems much passionate discourse on what 'Non-Pro' means.
I believe the safest definition would be the obvious: A 'Non-Pro' is the opposite of a 'Pro'.
