I have, over the years, spent a lot of time around newbies on their first or second trip, and I must agree 100% with Pac 55's top 3 mistakes; and not just for newbies. I have seen the same 3 mistakes many times with so called experienced Costa Rica mongers.

And in fact, we ALL, on occasion, are guilty of commenting one of these mistakes; especially the 3rd one

Some examples of PAC 55's top, of which I agree for the top 3:

Drinking
Don't run a tab at the HDR. I always pay cash. As far as buying girls drinks, do what you like. I prefer the one drink then I decide if she is who I want. I speak spanish so I cover everything in one drink. If you do not speak spanish, enter some phrases into google translator and write them on an index card. There is a lot of truth in the previous comments. I like to drink and have found that you forget some of the things that you go there to enjoy.

Overexcitement
Definately, especially when you first encounter these ladies and open, friendly environment. Since MP's are a fixed price for a fixed time, you might want to consider releasing the pressure in a non-negotiating environment. At HDR and SL, when you spend more and more time talking with a lady, their smiles, eyes, touching you works to their advantage.

Overpaying
Read through the information. You can find almost all the info you need down to the cost of a can of tuna.

my first wingman sent me this, how true

" most of the girls down here, lie as a self defense mechanism and to not have to face the truth, thinking most men couldn't accept them knowing the whole truth. Simpler, they may just want men to think they are as perfect as they want to appear to them, trying to hide what they consider to be the ugly truth about themselves. And I may be reading more into it than is there, but I do believe they consider the basis of the lies to be justified."

1. Not getting enough rest, good food, and hydration. It is hard to have a good experience if you are tired, sleepy or weak.

2. Not being able to negotiate with the girls. Not having the language skills to communicate at the most basic level.

3. Paying too much. The first time everything seems cheap. With the excitement, the allure and the booze, some pay more than they should. :)

1) getting drunk while running a tab at the bar. Bad for sex, bad for the wallet

2) taking the very first girl to approach them because they're so happy to have a girl come up to them, instead of taking the one they want, and comparing prices to get a feel for the market.

3) flashing your cash. Dumb, dumb mistake. This impresses no one, and paints a big fat target on your head, both for the chicas and from other, more dangerous predators. No wallets, passports or or other irreplaceable or indispensable articles in pockets.

1) Taking a girl off the street in a place that that just means trouble (i.e. outside a mongering location, such as on the street corners near the DR).

2) Trusting random mongers who may have their head up their arses...

3) Confusing sex with more than sex
