Hey guys, I found this site by accident and I'm glad that I did. After reading the posts for about an hour I decided to get the membership. I've ready numerous posts since Saturday and have learned a lot about what to expect and where to go. Some of you guys are hilarious  I received my VIP card in the mail today :D :D :D

I've already have reservations at SL and they arranged for the airport pickup. IMO the reservations staff at SL is 5 stars. They have always answered emails about any question within hours. I did take the advise of many and reserved a room in the modern wing.

I'm trying to re-learn the Spanish from college and it's coming back slowly. Thanks to those that posted the thread on the vocab that's not in any book

One question that I have is it a good time during the 2nd week in Feb? I'm looking at making my 2nd trip 13-18 Feb. Yes, I haven't been there yet but I know it's going to be a blast!!!

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

February, you will get great weather. It will be "dry season". Hotel rates might be a bit higher but you will have a great time. I would consider a few days at one of the great beaches too.

Great newbie guide, thanks. I noticed the first two strip club links go to parked (dead) sites. Also there was one link I couldn't access. I forget which one... probably a VIP-only thread.

Mongers
I just had my first threesome of my life!
My GFE tica suggested it after we were dancing with a nice Chica in the SL.
It was great.
Just had to tell SOMEONE!
Thanks for listening

That is all.

PS an 8 and a 9 make a 17 right?

Don't worry about weather.
If you do the trip right, it might rain on you while you wait for a cab

Hi everybody and thank you Orange! That was an incredibly helpful piece of info that you put together. Although I've been to CR about 3 times, I'm a newbie now. I haven't been there for 15 years. I'm getting on in years and my lust for adventure travel isn't what it used to be, the main reason I went to CR in the past. Plus the beautiful and innocent ticas of course.

I quit my job last Friday and made up my mind to go somewhere in Latin America to more or less celebrate. I've been to a number of Latino countries but CR was always my favorite. There was a long lull in solo traveling due to being tied down. I'm divorced now.

Anyway, I digress. I read this entire thread plus lots of other stuff on this board and another. Number one, this is one of the most helpful boards I've come across. It was so helpful that I kind of changed my mind about CR and am leaning to going to the Dominican Republic instead, a place I've been to fairly recently. What turns me off about what I read about CR is that it sounds so hardcore and expensive now. I can't say the DR is much better but it's a lot cheaper, particularly traveling from the NY area. Plus I know the ropes, at least some of them, in DR having been there twice in the last few years.

Any thoughts on this will be appreciated. Thanks again guys for providing a super site.

When the forum "upgraded" the software, the URL format changed, and all the links went dead. Today, I updated the links in this Newbie thread that link to older threads. Let me know if you still come across any dead links.

Some of them I had to delete altogether because it seems that some threads no longer exist. It seems that a chunk of the data was lost during the transfer or something because I could not find some of my older threads.

Bro, I sure hope that stuff was archived safely and readily accessibly. I got my start here as a Thread Dumpster diver--finding older Threads with current relevance--I'd sure hate it if some future guy with the same impulses were to be denied the same opportunity. "Those who cannot remember [or deny] the past are condemned to repeat it." * Advice on RFMs, general personal conduct and all that. Ageless stuff.

Shout out to George Santayana THE metalinguist for this gem.

I would personally like to thank the author of the "Costa Rica for Newbies" section for doing such a
thorough job. And especially the section on holidays. I was planning to use time I had available during the Easter week to go to San Jose .... but while doing my pre-adventure homework I discovered that time frame was one of the worst!! Thank you for helping me avoid the wasted trip!

I now am planning my trip for the Memorial Day Holiday, but am unable to be in San Jose on either Friday or Saturday.

How will the during the weekday/weeknight activities be?

Thank you all again for making this valuable information available to Newbies such as myself.

BTW ... I'm only a Newbie to Costa Rica! :P
