If you just want the girls company it's $12 and they will sit next to you and enjoy a drink roughly 10-15mins, they don't tell you about this.I ended up finding out from one of the waiters. $24 gets you the drinks + table dance. I had 2 different girls i just spent time with for $12 each and didn't get the table dance. I don't know bout hourly at since i did the half hour he said $68, $60 for 30Mins and $8 for a drink or room usage I don't know.

Went to San Jose Friday night. The Sportsmans was okay for girls in the 4 to 7 range. Nothing to get excited about. The Del Rey had more women but all in the 4 to 7 range. The better looking ones have been there every night for years and have attitudes I don't tolerate. When it gets this bad I go to strip clubs. At least after seeing them naked you are not surprised at what falls out or down when they take off their clothes. My favorite club is Alcazar. The average girl there I would rate as an 8. I go to strip clubs to get entertained. I paid a cover charge of $12 to get in. For that I got 3 mixed drinks. There were at least 15 dancers. A drink for one of the girls cost $13 . The girl gets three dollars of this. For this you get a full contact lap dance, a dick massage, anything she can do to try to convince you to take her to a room. To take the girl to the room it costs $60 for a half hour. She gets thirty of it. I have been in the states for two months. This was my first night out. I was ready to get entertained. The first girl I took was a Nica who lives in Tibas. I bought her two drinks, got lap dances for thirty minutes and had a great session in the room. The advantage of this for me is I get their number and I know she will go for $30 for a half hour, $60 for an hour. She is use to making three or four hundred a week. The club has plenty of customers, mostly Ticos who come to look, may buy them a drink or two but rarely finish the deal. The average customer can't afford to drop a hundred dollars at the club. I can take her to dinner, $40, take her to my favorite, no-tell-motel, Hotel Paseo Ruta 32, $40, give her $120 and spend 4 hours with her for a total of $200. It all comes down to the quality of experience you are looking for. At this point in life I would rather have one quality session a week than 5 mediocre. Even if the price was the same. I live here and can session any time I want. Strip clubs have their advantages and can be fun but can be a major rip off if you don't understand how they work. I advise caution and going with someone who knows the ropes until you are comfortable.

Great review and explanation, Pops. I've been coming to CR since 2003 and lived there 2 years (2007-2009). I've been to almost all MP's, HDR, SL and the various stages of ZB/Scores over the years, had favorites routinely come over and spend the night when I lived there but oddly never went to a strip club.

Seems like it's more expensive than picking a girl from the other venues but a well made point is you get a free look at what you'll be getting ahead of time, no surprising sags or scars, and the entertainment sounds like fun, plus getting cell #'s for future encounters and it may just be on my occasional to do list when I retire there.

I have over 70 trips to 8 countries, and know others who have been there more times, and have not had 1 contact with police. Hard to imagine what kind of clown do you have to be in public.. I know some of us have passionate feelings about how they like to spend their entertainment dollars in Costa Rica. At the same time, I expect we aren't always going to agree.

That doesn't necessitate calling each other names. Please let's keep the debate civil.

There is some good information in this thread and I thank everyone for their contributions.

Pops report on Alcazar was spot on and very much welcome. Everything about the other clubs comes across as accurate as well. I compliment Alcazar for doing a good job of keeping their drink prices at a reasonable rate for many years now. Personally, I've never had a bad time at Alcazar.

It should also be mentioned that CRT advertiser the Pirate Club is an excellent option as well. Their prices are especially competitive and there is a deal on Monday nights (call them if you need details). There had been some complaints in past years with unexplained drink charges. But, i think that's been cleaned up when the manager was replaced. Over the past year, I have never had a bad time at the Pirate Club.

It should be understood that upward price pressure has been seen for several years now at Le Grillion and Pantra Rosa. In the later case, it appears much money has been spent on remodeling and there was perhaps a change in administration. So, they are not as economical options as they once were.

N-J was a high price club that become more competitively priced a few years ago. It's under the same management as Arcadas, Monaco and Las Margaritas. It has been said that some of those clubs are seedy. However, some of us may enjoy seedy and cheap.

As far as paying for chica drinks at the club, that's an individual choice. It's important for guys to understand that the girls get a commission for selling the drinks. However, some guys like to pet their chicas out in the club. So what?

Above all, things change and opinions will differ. Let's try to help each other out, share information and stay friends.

Apologies to all for the hijack. To be open, Orange and I have met before in San Jose, and we get along just fine in person. It's that his online persona and my online persona don't get along. Still, we are supposed to know where to draw the line. If I called him any names, I retract and apologize to him and everyone for degrading the thread.

'nuff said.

My opinion is that all newbies should try to visit one or two of the clubs in San Jose to have the experience. As Orange pointed out, they're not for everyone, but you must decide for yourself if it suits you.
