5 trips to cocal i have never been asked for more then $100....from very hot girls
13 trips to san jose only once have i been asked for more than $100
I find it funny that guys who travel alot to costa rica San jose and post alot run into nothing but hard core pros at DR/KL/cocal who ask for $100 or more
Not wanting to get into a pissing contest with anyone but the cocal is not filled with newbies
just guys who dont mind spending a $100 and im sure in some cases more
In the end it just shows basic economics people have different preferences

Mike, this is the value of a message board, and sadly, what CRT does not do well , especially lately.

You expressed your opinions, based upon your experiences - the fact that mine are contrary does not matter - both points of view are of value to those looking for info.

I think my basic outlook is colored by the fact that I don't like or, more importantly, depend on places like the Delrey, or Key Largo while in San Jose. The Cocal reminds me of both - and since neither of us conducted interviews with patrons there to find out their level of "mongering experience" that point is moot.

My observation is you get guys spending <lots of> money on fishing - these are guys that would not hang out for a week in San Jose - and you get girls - who in my experience - don't want to come off $100 - or more.

Frankly, the place reminds me of the HDR of some years back. Whether they are hard core or not, they certainly were not amenable to negociation, and yes seem more "hard core" than what I prefer. Others feel differently. I know they ask and want $100, but to me - that's too much.

One point that I will challenge (in a nice way, of course :) ) is that by spending more - you get more - the simple truth is due to lack of venues, Jaco is much more a sellers market than San Jose.

Yeas ago, my friend BangBang57 made the point - which has stuck with me - that some MP girls go to the Del Rey at night and can earn - if they are lucky - many times what they can in the MP - same girl, just a different venue - no more value to paying $100 vs the $35 the MP charges (and she gets a percentage).

I don't like the Cocal scene, I don't think the girls are "all that" and frankly think for the first time in 15 years will skip the annual boys fishing trip to Jaco in Feb. But that's me - if you and others, Mike, like the place, are satisified with the quality, selection, service (sounds like a car ad      ) be my guest - from the crowd, more seem to share your POV than mine :P :P

(BTW _ I don't feel particularly passionate about this topic - I mean, its not like using the word for Costa Rican females to be synonomous with whore       - but I do think everyone should go to Jaco and judge for themselves)

I have not been to Jaco, nor to the Cocal. I can only base my point of view off of Trip Reports, postings from guys WITH experience, and (sadly) whatever common sense I can dredge up.

My expectations for the Cocal (I am debating a visit over Labor Day) is to see generalized 9s and 10s that will be (IMHE) more hard-core than I typically deal with on my wanderings. I expect to pay more (and the idea of paying over cien makes me queasy - seriously). I expect to have excellent sessions, and (knowing myself as well as I do) I expect to depart Jaco with the feeling that it was not worth the expense.

Do not assume that I am talking my way out of the trip. These are my 'expectations' ... and those that have met me know that I do not act on expectations, but go in eyes wide open. I have learned that most expectations crumble away in Costa Rica ... and most pleasantly so.

The real question is: assuming these 9s and 10 hard-cores come from HDR, exactly how does that leave the HDR scene? An increase in 2s - 5s (hoping to fill the void) ... a better chica/monger ratio ... a higher percentage of non-hard-core chicas (assuming most hard-cores have gone to Jaco) ...

Should we expect the HDR to close down and become a home for orphans and widows? Seriously, what is the (in-the-know) outlook for the HDR over the next couple of years ... *IF* Jaco is becomming the new GO-TO place for hot women?

scuba nice post agree with much of it
When in san jose no one really needs to depend on del rey KL unless its after 11:00pm
then its only game in town
While its a guess(educated) on my part there is a mix of experienced mongers at cocal/jaco but there are newbies (usually in groups) i missinterpeted you post. I think newbies stand out more at cocal because its a smaller venue.
BB57 was spot on with that comment i have run into 3 different girls i had been with at mps
only Joanna(NF) started with fair price the other 2 wanted $80 but settled for $60(night KL) One told me she occasionaly gets $100 both worked there 2 days a week and were both from relax.I also believe that venue has much to do with price.
Girls in jaco (as you stated) know there is more $$ to tap into so negotiations are harder but not impossible.
An MP girl from a relax eros etc just moves up in class at rey/kl
Kind of like a thoroughbred breaking its maiden then going to cheap claiming race
Bashful HDR will never go away san jose will always be a great mongering spot
not all girls at cocal are in the 9/10 ratio but most dress up nice and look there best its worth checking out unless you want to do 3-5 girls a day.
Took me 11 trips was getting tired of scene in san jose before i went
i love it others dont

Do both San Jose and Jaco.

If you like value and daytime action San Jose MPs hands Down.

If your looking for a large selection of hotties and don't mind paying cien
You will love the Cocal in jaco.

My June trip we spent 3 nights in San Jose and 4 nights in Jaco.
Both were fun!

But both wingy and I had a better time in Jaco.

I would highly recommend doing both venues.

I would of spent a 5th night at the Cocal except they where full!

Cocal employees said it's the busiest June ever especially on the weekends.

If your a penny pincher stay in San Jose and hit the MPs.

Or use the "black book" contacts you have made over the years........So you don't "need" places like the HDR or KL  :) :)

Plane, you - and Mike make good points - I had an Ah ha moment

I just spend two nights in Jaco at Cocal Sort of slow but still lots of choices from 9s to "oh my, I think not. There is not enough alcohol," I was able to pull a couple 7s and 8s. 80 for the two 8s. $60 for the 7, A pleasant time with all. The new wrinkle is when I asked how much they responded with "you know.". I then came back with 60. They giggled and said 80. Not a tough negotiation. The 60 was late just before Cocal closed for the night and she was tired

Thank you for input, hell I will check out both and give my opinion.
I am into fishing and that sort of stuff so Jaco may suit me just fine. I will plane on my first night to be in SJ. Then I will head to jaco. Again thanks for info. If anyone is there between August 22 to 28 look me up.

Nothing I said was in any way argumentative; in fact gave kudos to the OP for his courtesy <lacking in many> for posting back.
