Guess I have steered the conversation in the wrong direction, so let me clarify, and if I may, narrate what the math (or science) behind this is. This is somewhat like the climate change argument. Most scientists are in agreement, yet there are still lingering doubts.
Pheremones are natural secretions occurring with all mammals (us included). That much is well established. This is better known for the animal world (dogs, elephants), in as much as the dogs have a 'breeding' season. At certain times of the year, their body generates secretions that attract the opposite sex. Elephants have a similar mechanism, with what is referred to as a male elephant in 'musth'. For male deer, this is referred to as 'rot'.

Humans too generate these secretions having a peculiar odor, through their sweat glands. This is a innate, primitive biological function that signals the mating season. Of course, and thankfully, there is really no season for us humans, and we are biologically free to copulate/fornicate at will.
Fortunately or otherwise, we lather ourselves in so much soap, day in and day out, that this primitive, yet extremely potent mating signal is, for lack of a better way of describing it, washed away.
Just to be clear, I do exactly the same (lathering) twice a day.
The process of generating these secretions has been (to a decent degree) discovered and efforts are ongoing to artificially produce these in laboratories (with varying degrees of success).
While I agree that the 'Placebo' effect is certainly a factor, my interactions with ladies I have successfully bedded using these methods (having subsequently disclosed to them the use of this potion), have revealed to me their own physiological and psychological process when in close proximity to me while wearing this potion.
I have done this both with and without wearing this scent, and the differences in the sub-conscious reactions have been quite startling, to say the least.
It seems that wearing this stuff causes a certain looseness, relaxation, and letting down of the guard, among other more subtle responses in the opposite sex. I can attest to this by virtue of personal experience on many (a couple of dozen) experiences.
An article, for those that might be curious.
http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/232635.phpFor the gay attraction part (I am strictly hetero), here is a last bit:

In the interest of an ongoing healthy debate however, we must all 'Agree to Disagree'.
