Guy,
Search on here for Pops, contact him and set up a tour. That would be a great starting point. You can read the reviews of his tours when you serach his name. He is a great guy and you won't be disappointed 8) 8) 8)

Plenty of friendly veterans there always willing to help out a newbie!
It would be a much better choice than the HDR IMO.

Have fun,

As it was suggested before in this thread, for my first time, I do want to stay in the belly of the beast. :) But if there is something wrong with staying at HDR, please do let me know.

Thanks for the input though.

The chicas are always on the lookout for newbies. Many will attempt to take you for everything they can. FYI there are several ways they identify guys new to the CR mongering scence; K*D in the candystore look, lack of Espanol, staying at the HDR.

When you take a girl upstairs at the HDR it might be harder for you to obtain GFE due to the fact that her mind is going to be occupied with thinking about just how quick she can get back downstairs and locate another victim. You need to understand that your first trip is going to be your most expensive due to your lack of knowlege/experience and this is what many of the more hardened pros at the HDR are counting on in order to seperate you from your colones in the shortest amount of time with minimal effort en la cama. Don't get me wrong because I always do my hunting at night in the HDR/KL, I just don't want to stay there.

The absolute most valuable thing that staying at the SL offers you is an abundance of friendly, knowlegable vets who are always willing to help a newbie out and show him the ropes. It is only a 5 minute walk or 2 minute cab ride from the SL to the HDR.....literally nada, but many of the chicas at the SL are more " newbie friendly".

Do whatever you care to, this is just a little advice to explain to you why IMO you would do better and might have better experiences by staying at the SL.

R3 makes some good points but in light of your trip being such a short visit- staying at HDR can't be beat for being in the middle of the largest selection and maximizing your time. Yes you can bring chicas from elsewhere to your room at HDR as long as she's not blacklisted for some reason. To meet up with other members just check the Roll Call section and make plans to meet up for drinks, dinner or whatever. Pops tour would be ideal for you, he'd show you most of the gulch scene, what to avoid and how to negotiate without looking like the "newbie" in a short time, not sure if he has a site but you can send him a PM for info. Do you speak any spanish?

Rainman3: All very good points in favor of SL (and no guest fee too).

I'm a newbie at CR but I am a Bangkok veteran so hopefully I will not have the K*D in the candy store look.

I think I will reconsider my staying at HDR.

Speaking of Bangkok, when you buy a girl a drink in Bangkok, the drink is priced at triple it's original price and the markup is later split between the bar-tender and the girl (and the drink that is served to her is just soda). Is the same true for CR?

Thanks for the input.

Thanks Paco. I have already sent a PM to Pops. And I have gone through the Orange's FAQ. See? I am getting prepared...:)

And no, I don't speak any Spanish? How big of a disadvantage that is going to be?

How much of discount at the room rate CRT VIP get at Sportsman? (I'm planning to get a Junior Suite which is listed on their website @ $99)

Do I mention the CRT VIP at the time or reservation or checkout?

Welcome to CRT!

No, that kind of drink practice is not done in CR. The girls at the HDR and SL are independents, there is no barfine to take them out wherever you want and you can buy them whatever you want at regular drink prices.

The HDR is for complete newbie mongers (guys who have never been with a hooker and have never been outside the USA), if you have experience then there is no need to stay there, there's a lot of far better hotels available.

Where do I meet a veteran old timer? :?

For 2 reasons: (1) Every Chica you take up at the HDR will cost you a $10 Chica fee. Depending on how much of the Kama Sutra you want to work through, those fees can add up; (2) Some HDR loyalists may disagree but the rooms are just nicer at other venues.
Taxis are dead cheap and freely available in San Jose ( we call it SJO, for the airport designator). Rarely a problem bringing your prize back to any CRT-Sponsored Hotel--by us for us.
Consider investing in at least a 1-year membership in CRT. Available on site at the Dunn Inn through Brother BKTuna; it will pay you back in discounts your first trip + give access to the great Monger Map + access to all this Board. You should have no trouble hooking up with a wingman (try Happy Hour at the SL or the Dunn Inn) but if you are a bit nervous, Brother Pops runs an inexpensive paid wingman service that even the knowledgeable Old Sweats have found useful. Try a PM to him.
You'll do great and please remember--spontaneity rules and frustration is your mortal enemy.

Thanks. I just made my reservations at Sportsman Lodge. Now, picking up some Spanish before getting there is the next goal. :)

Depends on what's the cause. Many of the symptoms are relieved by Hajmola (available at every general store) but I would recommend seeing a doctor. Especially if you are visiting India

Hajmola.....OK...does it have small amount of anti biotic in the solution?

there is similar product in Costa Rica...the name escapes me at the moment....but that stuff works!...you should pick up a bottle of it.

anyway, enjoy your trip and make sure you drop by some of the happy hours at places like the Sportsman Lodge and Dunn Inn....

maybe have one of the veteran old time residents take you on a Massage Parlor tour...hunt for 'diamond in the rough' stuff

I think the word you are looking for is DIACORT.....that shit works!!!!!

ThatIndianGuy dont worry you will be alright it is not as bad as most poeple make it. And CRT is a brotherhood just pull out that card or look for others with the card and start talking to them. You can learn alot from the older members. But remember drink plenty of water and bang the chicas like it is the last day on earth. And bring back as many as you can handle. Thats is how i do it, it makes the flight much easier on the way home and pictures always help with CR withdraw.

Thanks Jason. Are you asking me to bring Chicas back with me? :) That is not my plan. :)

I'm sure you meant the pictures.

I will certainly be looking forward to advice from the old-timers. Reading from this forum, I understand that they can be found hanging around at the SL bar.

I PMed Pops yesterday for his tour. Still waiting for his answer. No worries. Plenty of days to go before I get there.

FYI on SL. I just got back from my first trip to CR and I stayed at the SL based on the chatter here.

1. You may want to avoid a courtyard room. They're adjacent to bar so it's really noisy until about 12am.

2. Girls get to work early over there. I was having breakfast at 10am after my first night and there were already 4 or 5 girls working the bar.

3. Lack of spanish skills is a drawback. It won't interfere with you getting anything done transaction wise, but you're not going to be able to build much rapport or do a through interview before hand (you'll need to trust your gut instincts).
