I stayed 4 nights this month a La Amistad and had a great stay as ususal.

I have stayed there numerous times over the last 3 + years.

I highly recommend the La Amistad.

The hotel has become very popular because of their excellent reputation.
Almost too popular.

I have seen Matt the owner be very gracious with his guests.

For example. I was supposed to move from a Nice King Room to one of the Kick ass Penthouse Suites for my last night.

Matt appraoched me at breakfast and asked me for a favor. A newlywed couple was checking in and he wanted to make their stay extra special with a FREE upgrade to a Penthouse Suite; but all the Penthouses were booked. He asked me if I would mind staying in my current room so he could give this couple the Penthouse Suite I had reserved.

He said It was my decision and he would totally understand if I didn't want to give up a Penthouse.

Matt has always treated my friends and I very well. He is one of the many reasons we repeatedly stay at La Amistad.

I had no problem letting these folks have my Penthouse. I have stayed in different Penthouse Suites at La Amistad and know how great they are.

I saw him personally go up to the couple and inform them that he had a surprise for them. I'm sure this couple had a memorable stay at the La Amistad.

I'm planning on staying there again in September.

The Chicas all like the Amistad too! Muy Linda they all say!

I guess SL isn't the only place that has its cheerleaders....

Why do you expect the Hotel to honer different discounts together ? It's very common that most coupons or discounts are not valid in conjunction with other offers. Maybe you can combine so many offfers that they will owe you money to stay there.

And why all the fuss ? You didn't loose anything. You found out almost immediately that they did not choose to honor both discounts together. What do you want , a class action law suit ?

Just book somewhere else and be happy. Maybe Sportsman, Freebird, Morazon or even the Del Rey ?

One Arm, There is an incredible amount of inegrity, intelligence and rational thought on this board ( well, usually anyway) But, I'd recommend reading alot, posting positives at least initially and establishing your bondafides before you start posting flames as a newbie.

It's pretty hard to post anything on this board that doesn't ring true in general without getting more than one riposte.

Welcome to the board. Stick with it. Read it and learn. You will like it in the end.

OneArm, you're right. I book my rooms there all the time, I get my queen room everytime, never a problem but no free upgrade to Penthouse Suite for the Queen room price along with the 25% VIP discount for a week stay (they do have a 25% discount). And they didn't even accept the additional 25% off coupon that I took time make on my computer. And why is there no free lunch and dinner along with breakfast? Be careful, they charge for drinks at the bar.

Just so you know SL charges for drinks and the all the girls there not working for SL, yes, you guessed it. They charge and services are not guaranteed! When they cien, it is not colones it is dollars. The taxi drivers actually do have families to feed so they will charge a few bucks for a ride. I know it's crazy, a vacation costs money.

Double dipping, do you think this is the Hilton Honors program?

I actually think this is the first time I got a bit angry. Do the right thing and edit your orginal post to indicate your situation because it reflects improperly on a business which many (even most, if not all) consider a fine establishment.

Nothing bad bro, but I also own a business (I've calmed down). It is not a dot org, rather a dot com, so I do it because I like it and I make money. And, you own a business, so you should think the same.

You have been CRT memeber for about a week, why do you feel the need to bad mouth a well respected hotel. If you had done more reading you would find nothing but nice reviews on LA.




I'm assuming in your email you had asked for a suite. The suite you want is a "penthouse suite"? As a travel agent you should also know that booking hotels thru discounted sites(orbitz/hotwire) you will not be given "penthouse suite" type of rooms.


Not sure how many years you've been in this travel agency business but you definitely don't sound very savvy.

My stays at Amistad just get better and better; never a hitch; nothing but tranquilo......Matt is a fine man. An honest person and a fellow who will go out of his way to make all things good. Cool Runnings. Yeah, yeah....more Sycophantic slobberings and man love going on here......

One Arm,I hope your clothes are flame retardent cuz you just got flamed ! My experience is I was desperatly seeking a last minute room and the Owner Matt actually saw my post here !1 he sent me amessage and offerd me the penthouse for such a low price I cant even mention it here !

The guy is alright I personally think he would do anything to help us out .

I was pissed about on one thing there was a 6.7 earthquake the second day and he never told me It was coming so I feel kinda scammed on that lol otherwise it was an awsome stay !
