I look for the "eager beaver group" as well and stay far away.I was sitting on a plane last year at noon leaving SJO and there were three
guys in the back telling everyone on the plane of their exploits. I happen to be sitting next to a beautiful tica flying to the US. She seemed very embrassed with the loud conversations. I told her "not all Americans act like that" and I'm sorry. She said " I know". She was very nice and she had lunch with me in MIA before she boarded for Boston. I hope I changed her mind.

I well understand the frat-house sophomoric retelling of sexual exploits, even by some guys of advanced age. What I don't understand is making everybody within sight or hearing aware of them. Who exactly are they trying to impress? Deep-seated feelings of inadequacy or mabe even a closet case if you ask me.

why do you guys assume they are "americans", the freaking canadians get by with murder cuz everyone thinks that they are americans and then blame us for their shenagins..
I would like to add one "rule".
i have recieved better service when i smiled.. i know it sounds stupid but sometimes the newbies(me) were so nervous i forgot that one important aspect and hugs help too.
seems obvious, but i was so nervous the first coupla times i forgot those two important items... :oops:

On a related note to CiaoÂ´s point, if you are in CR and somewhere other than a hooker hangout and you see a working girl you know, do not say hi or go over to her unless she sees you and speaks first. This can get a girl in deep trouble or even hurt by Father, Mother, husband, boyfriend. This got a DR girl I know severely beaten after her boyfriend witnessed her talking to a few gringos she knew in the San Pedro Mall.

Personally, I get really embarrassed when I'm sitting at a restaurant and Joe Monger is talking in his semi-drunken loud voice about how he show his leche in some girl's hair the night before with other regular people around hearing it. It makes me pretty uncomfortable because it makes all gringos (whether American or Canadian) look like a-holes.
