My first impression was that CaCostarica was my wife,, venting her venom in her usual passive-aggressive style. Then I got to thinking about it. Hard.
Some of us who come to C.R. have real moral issues with prostitution, whether we realize it or not. Guys like this were never meant to monger, but they give it a try, thinking it's the manly thing to do.
If they're like El Ciego, the moral issues resolve themselves (i.e. the situation/scene is what it is, the girls make money, most stay safe, recreational sex can be good for the man both body and soul...)
Other guys when confronted with the scene will have their initial, repressed moral doubts reinforced. They implicitly judge themselves as sick or perverted, then explicitly call other men "trash" or "losers." This is nothing more than transferrence in psycho-babble. My problem is that they also imply negative judgement about the chicas.
Okay Cacostarica, don't return to the Gulch. This way, you'll have to neither confront yourself nor the rest of us, and you won't be obligated to judge the women who work in prostitution as being somehow inferior or morally-bankrupt.
Prostitution has existed in various forms since Man fell out of the trees, and it has certainly existed in its present form since the first coin was minted. It will not go away.
For the record, I'm a pathetic loser who couldn't get laid in a women's prison with a handful of pardons, so you got that one right. This might be why in 30 years of screwing, I've only had loving, satisfying sex with around 25 ladies, not counting prostitutes. It's why I've been more-or-less happily married for non-sexual reasons for 25 years. Yep, loser am I.
But you might want to think twice before smearing the rest of the guys here,, many of whom are very successful at relationships, career and life.
I understand your angst and feel your pain, believe me. I've even thought similar thoughts.
Now, please go away. Vacation elsewhere where there is no prostitution, like maybe the Vatican or Antarctica.
