My friend that stayed at the Dr also commented that he just stayed in the room at times cause as soon as he stepped off the elevator he was constantly being approached.

I'm not saying this is a bad thing  but one of the main reasons I chose castillo was that it was close enough to the gulch yet far enough away to relax for a couple of hours without all the noise and such, not to mention NF & ZB are much closer to castillo

To each their own!

Perhaps he had a nicer room than I booked.

I always get the cheapest room 'cause I'm hardly ever in the room. I bring earplugs. After living on the road for the past 31 years not much bothers me.

3 nights booked. 2 on the front end, 2 days out of town to fish then 1 night on the end of the trip. I don't like to spend all my time in one spot. Could be the change of scenery I like best.

By all means, spend your first trip in 6 different hotels. That way, you'll be sure to know where to spend the next trip. :)  8)

Yes, I'm being a smartass.

well I got back from my first trip, I think if you want the ability to get away from mongering for a couple hours, as I did, the SL couldnt be beat. it is only 1 dollar, and 3 minutes later and your in front of the Delray. And if you still want something right outside your room door, the SL still has that at most hours too.
And they have the discount.

Tonguelash,
Nice to see you posting. And I concur about the SL. We all had a good time that weekend! Don't be a stranger. :o

I don't plan on it. I like to try new places and not repeat, but it will tough not to go back to CR; soon. i don't think I will post enough to get my "PHD" from Delray, besides, I was at the clubs more, Touch, Pueblos, and of course Key largo

Thanks for all of the coments. So, what is a new boy (new to CR, not new to life!) to do?

DRH ($70 per night, booked online) for four nights, to Costa Verde Hotel in Manual Antonio for 5 nights of serious chill (alone or not, need it) and then back to SJ for 3 nights at the SL for variety. I think the 7 night SJ to 5 in MA is a decent ratio. Of course, i'll regret not being in SJ on the 3rd night in MA but then I'll arrive back in SJ a rather fresh boy. Right?

Peterspace,

Sounds like a great agenda for a first visit.

Initial 4 nights in the HDR and the legendary BM.

Five nights at the beach to chill. (You may find someone to share a couple of days there with you in your 4 nights in SJ.)

3 nights as the SL to still savor the wonders of San Jose in a bit more relaxed atmosphere.

Sometimes guys try to do to much in the limited time they have. Think you have it well paced. Enjoy :D

Pura Vida

I agree this is the way to go. I wanted to stretch my trip over a week in change, but had work limitations. next time I will make it to the coast for a bit, and I think I will plan a one night stay, balls out, at DR. I will be a repeat patron at SL. Especially if I'm there for another fight night. I will pay the extra for a better room though.
