As this will be my first trip to CR, and since customs vary, I'll ask. What is the etiquette about buying drinks for chicas who sit down and talk to you? yes, yes, if it were a date then the gemtlemanly thing to do would be.. yada yada.
but what about in the getting to know you/interview stage? Is it do what you want? or is the expectation there that once the chica sits down you're buying?

I have no problem buying a drink for a chica. Sometimes they ask me to and sometimes I offer first. However, that said, I always make it clear that I'm not buying some exotic, expensive mixed drink. I usually offer to buy them a BEER.

I've even had situations where I bought a beer for a chica and she's brazen enough to ask me to also buy for her friends.

It seems you must always make yourself clear, and up-front in any situation, or run the risk of being taken advantage of.

In strip clubs, I buy drinks and don't mind being taken advantage of because it, the buying of drinks, almost always allows you to take advantage of them by having roaming hands. They will routinely allow you to roam everywhere and it is not uncommon for penetration to be allowed. Just go for it and they will tell you where to stop.

In places like the DelRey, buy what you feel like for the girls and enjoy their company. Worst case is you spend $20 or so but feel great about having the ability to have such cuties spend time with you.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

will the girls receive the watered down version at full price, or more as in otehr areas. I have seen mention of doubles, particularly when mentioned with kamur, but am unsure as to whether this is the default or not. I'm not buying anybody doubles of watered down drinks all night, or even good drinks.

I don't understand why we should care if a lady drink is watered down. What we are really paying for is her time.If these were real drinks they would be passed out before the night is half over and of no use to us.

Hell no.

Buying is always at our discretion. We are paying and it's our $ , mind you. To me , there are no solid rules. When I am feeling grand , I don't mind free drinks for her " friends ". But when I am not ready to buy, I simply don't buy.

I've actually asked the girls to buy me a drink. Most often, the request gets a laugh, once in awhile, they will actually spring for a beer or something. Only occasionally do they get angry and stalk away.
:D

As Western gents, we've been conditioned to be the one who buys the drink/meal for the lady... but in Costa Rica, it seems the practice isn't universal. Ever see a tico offer to buy a female stranger a drink? Me neither...

If you are enjoying their company! Of course she will want a drink or some sign that you want her to stay. If you don't then do not offer them anything and leave. I say this because you did not specify where. And from what I have read About CR and experinced personaly in other places there is this scam where they say that you owe them for their time and a bouncer will get involed. I have never heard of that about the good places listed on this board. But one or two guys have said that once off the beaton tract this can happen. Allso you can end up with a bill for her and the other girls at the table. You know how foreigners here allways smile an nod yes? Well If you don't speak spanish you could be the foeigner noding. And end up with trouble from a waitress who does'nt understand.

You may want to be more spefic in your question in terms of what place are you referring to? The Delrey/Key Lago? Strip clubs? Bars like Idem or an MP like Zona Blue?

Remember that this a P4P (pay-for-play) scene and you are not obligated to buy the ladies any drinks. They want your money, not the drink.

as for buying the lady a drink at the delrey, well it's all up to you. But, would you buy her a drink if she came over and sat at your table uninvited and you're not attracted to her? Or..would you rather buy her a drink after inviting her to sit at your table and you two seemed to enjoy each others' company? If you are too nice and too generous you could wind-up buying every ladies in the Delrey a drink. Also, as far as I know the drinks for the ladies at the Delrey cost the same as yours and they are not water down.

Buying drinks for the ladies at strip clubs? well, just read some of the trip reports and you will find your answer.
