Hey All,

Looking to get my boots on the ground for the first time in Costa Rica in either April or May. I'm planning about 4 or 5 days.

Does it make sense to split the time up been SJ & Jaco on my first trip? Or best to pick one area and just stick with it?

I might try and sneak a tour in if I have time.

Thanks

For 5 days, I would pick one place and go with it. You don't want to waste the check-in / check/out and travel times for such a short trip. If you want warm / hot weather and a beach (though a pretty bad one) go for Jaco. More temperate weather, San Jose. Sufficient part opportunities in either place. You will find Jaco a bit more expensive for most everything. If you go to San Jose as a first timer, I would opt for the Sportsmens or the Castillo. You can / will meet a lot of like minded travelers that can give you a heads up on what is going on. The Taormina is also an option if those two hotels are booked.

For the first time in Jaco, I would probably choose the Cocal as it is right in the center of the action though quite expensive. You will find many day trips available that will get you back to the hotel in plenty of time to have some evening fun.

Have a great trip.

Thanks for the advice, I think you have a good point as to stick to 1 location for my first trip. I''ll probably just do San Jose and consider Jaco for another time.

A lot of the hotels you mentioned are the ones I have been considering. Once I am on the ground and meet up with other travels will I be able to find information on the entrainment venue's? Also does it make sense to consider a CRT membership prior to arrival?

Sportsmens gives a 10% discount for CRT VIP members for your hotel room rate if you book directly with the hotel. Also 10% off of any food and drinks in the bar.
