Making second solo trip to CR this week and doing last minute prep...checked weather.com, 100% chance of rain every single day!! So just a question to some of the CRT vets...DOES IT EVEN REALLY MATTER??

I'll be spending most of my time indoors with chicas so don't really give a dam about the weather, but does the rainy season kill the overall SJ vibe at all? Does it usually rain all day in CR? Should I expect to see less chicas out?

Thanks in advance for the knowledge..

Rain, especially in the afternoon is very normal in sjo, Sept. & Oct. are the peak of the rainy season. It doesn't matter, make sure you pack an umbrella with ya so you're prepared. Most of my activities are indoors but ya gotta get from 1 place to the next, so bring a good umbrella & stay dry. Don't worry about it, it doesn't kill any vibe, the chicas come out rain or shine, they got bills to pay.

I've been coming to Costa Rica at least yearly for over 10 years and most of those trips have been in October. It will rain almost daily in San Jose though the showers will generally only be a couple of hours long between late morning an early evening. That said there could also be day when the rain will last most of the day. Nights are generally without much rain. Be advised that when it does rain, it usually rains very hard. It can effect internet and sat TV signals.

The west coast beach towns will generally get a bit less rain than SJ but it still will be significant.

As the previous poster said you will definitely want to have an umbrella. Small fold up umbrellas can be gotten cheaply in the shops near the central market if you don't want to pack one. You can also pick one up in the area around the Del Rey from street vendors when it is actually raining but you will pay a premium price.

I like October. Everything is green and growing. Hotel rates outside of SJ are still a bit lower due to offseason rates. The number of tourists is down (except around Halloween) so the bars are less crowded with guys. The women are still there. I like to go rafting at least once during my stays and the October rains keep the rivers fast. I tried rafting once in February and the rivers were very low.

Enjoy your trip. I'll be there on the 11th. Seven days and counting. I can't wait.

The 1 day Paquare river rafting trip would be a blast at that time of year!

Rain? In San Jose? In the wettest month of the Central Valley's rainy season?

No! Say it isn't so!

some of my favorite memories are of the thunder and rain w the windows open in amistad w a favorita
getting caught in the rain downtown and standing against the wall w everyone else until it abated
but as the others have said its an unusual day that it rains the entire day
usually a few hours and then it stops
but hey sell these things called umbrellas all over and they are known to work pretty good
enjoy your time its actually pretty amazing time to be there ime, all what you make it
