Also, please keep in mind that alcohol doesn't affect all of us the same. It gives me a headache and makes me feel terrible. I could not be an alcoholic if I tried. But it robbed my brother of a good career and family life. It is truly a disease for some people and I have compassion for those that continually struggle with the grip it has on their lives.

I'll admit, the immature person that just gets blotto for no reason is annoying. I would offer them little help. But the person with a disease deserves a helpful assist to his room. They suffer enough from the disease as it is. I guess in Costa Rica it may be hard to tell the difference.

Disease? Since when is drinking every day a disease? Cancer is a phucking disease. When people talk about addiction as a disease, it's a phucking insult to people with real diseases. When you bring shit on yourself, don't call it a disease; call it stupidity. Calling it adisease is just an excuse. My grandfather literally drank himself to death. Nobody in my family thinks that he died from a "disease". He drank because he liked the way it made him feel, but then it got out of control.

Maybe drunks can sue the alcohol makers for their problems just like the smokers do.

Lots of people have problems with which they have difficulty coping. Addictions, O/C behaviors, phobias, etc. I am not ready to classify it as stupidity because they have these difficulties. I prefer to believe that I have been blessed with better luck and better genes.

I won't argue the point you are making, because it will accomplish little, but I do have a different opinion.

Great topic. Drinking and partying and whoring go hand-in-hand for me too. I would like to take it easy on my upcoming trip and I will try, but after the first couple of shots, caution sometimes goes out the window. At least I am a fun loving drunk. We'll see how it goes. As long as I don't get murdered or wake up in the park with a sore backside, it will be all gravy.. :D

Life is so f*cking short: you pick your vices and you take your consequences. I pick beer and ticas.

Actually, have met a few guys at the SL the last couple of weeks. They were actually fun guys. Some of our non-drinkers don't sound like they would hold much interest, whether chatting with chicas or bullshitting with the guys.

At the very least, the drunks provide some entertainment for the rest of us.

I am a non-drinker and without a doubt I was much more animated to put it mildly during my drinking days. The truth is, I was not able to make the right decisions after a twelve pack of 16 pounders. So now I am just a boring old monger that wants as much Pu***y as I can buy before I die. And I don't worry about going to jail as much.

Good for you Sam, you have found your way. I do think, for me, and only for me, a few light beers do seem to take the edge off, and ease the skids of life and lubricates conversation. But there is a demon in every bottle, and one needs self control.
