Curious to see opinions on top places that would be a mistake to miss on my first trip to CR. After reading many, many posts I am for sure going to hit main hot spots but anywhere else I should be venturing into?

How long do you plan on being in CR and what time of year are you planning to visit. Are you into sight seeing or adventure sports, do you prefer mountains and volcanoes or beaches? Are you staying in San Jose the entire time as a base?

Ch*ldren's Museum (the old penitentiary)
Parque EspaƱa
Parque Morazan
Parque Central (National Cathedral)
Parque de la Arts (John Lennon statue & Iglesia de la Solidad)
Avenida Central (walking streets)
Mercado Central

All within a ten minute walk from the HDR.

Museum of Art (at Parque Sabana) - take a cab!
