You guys must love us newbies...lol... And thanks for being here and responding as you do:

1- Academic - if prostitution is legal in CR - but pimping/solicitation isnt ... how are the MPs - other entities of prostitution run? Somebody has to own the business, correct?

1-a And why havent the North Americans moved in and setup their version of "Penthouse/Playboy" prostitution enterprises? I cant imagine corporate sex has not landed.

2- Somewhere on this site..though i can no longer find it...i read what i think is the concluding chapter of a very depressed older dudes lament about his forthcoming last days in CR. And I emphathize with his dilema of the aging bull...very hemingwayesque.

But the portrait of contemporary CR was just - if not more depressing..and my romantic erection withered...ha...alas....my dreams of a little grass shack on the beach reading writing painting nude under a palm tree while eating mango coconumt and lime .. watching my favorite ticas cavorting in the surf has faded to a portrait of dingy 3rd world country run by corropt patrones...

Can anyone comment on this man and his lament and the state of CR?

thanks, michaelo

This seems to be a reference to Mexpat's excellent writing about leaving CR. http://www.costaricaticas.com/article.php?id=43
Mexpat made the point that the CR experience is different if you are living there vs. going down every so often for an intense visit. This would be true for say, Las Vegas too.
Also, your experience in CR is affected by your age, just as you yourself are different at these various ages.
Mexpat's description of CR itself was a little bit of a downer, but really there is no reason to agree or disagree, unless you too are planning on moving there, in which case you need to know. Of course, it may be quite different for you, as it is for Bilko, VB and others that live there very contentedly.
Mexpat's contributions to this board were great, I hope he is doing well.

If it was Mexpats sorry he is refering to, I always found them to be fairly hopeful, in the sense that here was a guy who was being honest with himself and allowed himself to follow his instincts. Ok, so his dream was not a dream, but he seemed to be willing to move on and find a new one....
