there are several Kolbi kiosk in the airport. the last location before exiting is by customs.

in san jose, there are a gazillion places to buy and recharge. look for kolbi, claro,or movistar outside the business

pls make sure your phone is unlocked and supports the 850 gsm band. most tmobile phones (different band) along with verizon and sprint (different technology) won't work. there are a few exceptions to that depending on what phone you own.

That should be 1800 Mhz GSM, 850 Mhz 3G for ICE

I am planning on One Lucky Dogg to pick me up at the airport. I have never used him but have gotten good reviews.

He asked me if I wanted a SIM card when I arrived. He even gave me the number in advance. Makes it pretty easy to get connected.

I am planning on using One Lucky Dogg. I did not know if he could get you the SIM and Number. I will have to ask him about that.

While we are on the topic of CR Sims and numbers I was wondering if anyone used a service for international call forwarding number. I would prefer not needing to do this but unfortunately I might need to be reached and it is more cost effective than having 4 dollar a minute using my standard phone.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

SKYPE voice is about 2 cents per minute if you don't need to talk while you are walking down the street.
