I am getting ready for my first trip to San Jose this coming weekend (unless Spirit airlines screws my plans  ). I read somewhere that in HLH you shouldn't directly approach the girls but sit down at the bar and wait for them to approach you. Is that really the case? How HLH procedure is different from HDR or any other bar with girls like those in Tijuana for example?

At HLH you must approach the chicas. They sit on a couch awaiting someone to call them over to talk or have a drink etc.

Welcome to HLH and The Havana Humidor Room. When you arrive anyone in mgt. will help you and no need to stress. If you like cigars, the same applies.

Wiseash, without doubting you or your products in any way, shape, or form, I have heard that even in Cuba you can get fake stogies. Any semblence of truth?

Sure; true - look at the guys selling cigars in front of the HDR, and Ave Central - all fake Cubans - and if you visit Cuba, you will be approached on the street w/ unbelievable deals, all by folks who swear the product is genuine, and "smuggled out of a legit. factory by _________________ (insert family member - mother, father, sister brother, cousin, etc    )
This from the fake Cuban cigar capital of the world, Miami FL :)

I made a couple of trips to Cuba some years back and can certainly confirm from personal experience that you can get fakes there, as well as some poorly made (its a problem w/ Cubans....but a whole 'nother thread! )

I can tell you from personal experience w/ Bruce at HLH (and a lot of experience smoking cigars and reading about them) his cigars are the real thing, fairly priced (Cubans are not cheap, even in Havana), and he has a good selection - plus he is a great guy!

(Not that he can't speak for himself....but thought a perspective from a customer might be helpful :) )

Sorry to hijack the thread but I had to jump in on this one. I can vouch for Wiseash's products. There's a cigar that he carries that's absolutely fantastic and relatively inexpensive. In fact, when I get back down to SJO in October, I'm gonna get at least 2 dozen of these puppies-he just doesn't know it yet. The flavor is mild with a smooth blend all the way through, the stogie itself isn't that big so you can smoke it up in less than an hour. No, I'm not a long-time cigar smoker but to date after trying various smokes within the past year, the ones that Wise sells are the best. 2 thumbs up-way up!

Alright, now to the topic at hand:

Hotwheels, don't sweat it, dude. When you walk into HLH, it's your world. Whoever said to wait for the chica to approach you at the bar is telling you what works for him. I honestly don't think the chicas really care all that much. You gotta understand these women have seen it all and have to deal with all types of guys. They won't think you're strange if you go up to the lady you want to spend your time with. Don't be like me sitting at the bar with a thumb up my ass waiting and allowing some other guy to get the girl because he was more horny and had the balls to get what he wanted. Smile, introduce yourself and ask her if she has time for your company. The answer will likely be, yes. Proceed as directed allowing nature to run its course. Enjoy!

One more thing, Hotwheels.

Why don't you have your CRT card? Whattaya doing, Son? The CRT card doesn't cost, it SAVES $$. Discounts on food, lodging and HLH chicas. Contact Admin to get the card today so you can pick it up when you get to SJO this weekend.

Do you think it will save me $$$ just for one short weekend (I will be arriving at midnight on Friday and leave Sunday lunch time)? I mean for example how much would I be spending on a chica at HLH with and without the card?
Depending on how this first trip goes I may become regular visitor but who knows, next I would like to try Sosua and then see.
I also already made the booking for Dunn Inn with the regular rate. so won't be able to save from the lodging.

I am sure they would give you the discounted rate if you purchased the VIP. Also, you save on sessions at HLH.

Depends on where you say, for example I stay at Castillo and save 10 bucks a night off my stay with it. So if you stay 2 nights that is 20 bucks right there. HLH girls with the card are 49 vs 55 for the hour. So 6 bucks a girl savings. If you only did 3 girls there that is 18 bucks. So in that short time there is 38 bucks in savings, for a 35 dollar card. Eat a few meals and some drinks at Sportsmens and could probably save yourself another 5 bucks. It pays for itself very fast. If you return a lot it is really worth it. That card has probably saved me well over 400 bucks.

Hotweels,

Don't be penny wise and end up a dollar short. Get the card, even for a short trip. The only way you will loose with it is if you forget to take it out and use it, but that will be your fault.

There is a combined centuries worth of CR mongering experience on this board and it's telling you to get one.

Why would you come to a board like this for advice on CR mongering and then ignore it? No one here has any personal gain in you getting the card, but you have a lot to gain!

Listen to your CR brothers advice son and get the card. This is not the time to be a cheap Charlie!

All good advice, but another great reason is that you also - by being a paid member - support the board - while the discounts are real, and the card very worthwhile, you also are supporting the board, which is also very worthwhile :)

I'm not going to beat a dead horse, just do a little research and you'll find that it's worth the money.
