I sent Hotel Santo Tomas an email regarding their guest policy and assured them i am a discreet and low key gentleman. Their response was in bold letters and size 24 font "We do not allow prostitutes in our hotel! fwiw

That must be a recent change. For many years they had that policy and then relaxed it a bit by instituting a $15.00 guest fee. Perhaps they had some problems and decided to return to the previous policy. Thanks for the update.

I checked this and FAQ. Is this true?

Are visitors allowed at Hotel Aranjuez?

Hotel Aranjuez is a familiar hotel. Many families with their Ch*ldren stay with us every day. For that reason, not registered visitors are allowed in the rooms at anytime. You can always receive your visitors in the common areas.
Please remember to speak in loud voice after 10 p.m. in the social areas and to loud down the volume of your television after that time.

http://www.hotelaranjuez.com/index.html is another option...

Google Translate strikes again. The way I read it, NO unregistered visitors are allowed AND keep your voice and TV volume down after 10 P.M. This makes this venue a choice only if you TCB at an MP or rent motel time. Sorry.

I had the same concerns, with inquisitive family members almost guaranteed to check up on my hotel choice. I believe my decision to stay at the Castillo was the right choice. As srilm mentioned, it's quiet, nice easy walk to SL, HLH, HDR, etc., no chica fees and with the CRT discount, very reasonably priced (in fact for a 1 week stay I was able to negotiate a cash price of $50 per night).

It's certainly not the Ritz, my room had no fridge/coffee maker/microwave and the bedding and drapes were very tired, but the cleaning staff do a good job, staff are very friendly and helpful. Chances are you will also be able to gain some insight from some experienced mongers over the free (Tico) breakfast a the Castillo seems to have a good number of regular repeat customers.

DGD, presume you are asking about the Castillo.

In general, noise was low, but I was woken a couple of times in the early morning, once by barking dogs somewhere in the neighborhood, once by someone playing loud music at 5:30am.

As for the guy next door, I can't tell you because I didn't notice any sounds from any of my neighbors - maybe the walls are good, maybe I had quiet neighbors! I probably don't need to tell you though, that if you get a "live one", it don't matter where you're staying, the neighbors are going to hear those "Ai Papi's" and "Oh Baby's" through the wall!

New rooms at the Castillo would be a good choice. I stayed at Santo Tomas they would not allow but one chica in room at a time. That really screwed things up one night.

The Hemmingway. Clean, cheap (like $40 a night), and allows girls w/o a fee. Good location too, like halfway b/n HLH and SL, right by New Fantasy. I don't think it has much of a rep.

Not much has been written on this venue. Here's the announcement of its becoming a Sponsor, with strong commentary. We could use an up-to-date report (hint, hint): viewtopic.php?f=17&t=32205
