Is that bank open around the clock?

It closes at either 9 or 10pm.

Dang!!! My flight lands at 8:35 pm. If it closes at 9, I won't be able to make it. Is there an ATM at the airport that I can use to get colones? I did read in some post that there was but can't find the thread.

I don't think you need CR currency until you get into town and very few times then either. Unmarked, untorn USD currency is generally acceptable everywhere. I wouldn't worry too much about it nor take a bad rate just to have colones. I understand the feelings in advance of an initial trip but they are groundless. This assumes you are carrying USD currency--if it's another (Euro's or another), then yes conversion is necessary.

I was in CR September 2-7 and didn't make many mistakes, but one was to exchange money at the airport downstairs. I got a piss-poor exchange rate of 463 colones per dollar. I knew that was bad but didn't know quite how bad until I got to Sportsmen's Lodge and saw that they were giving 500 colones/dollar. I also made the mistake of changing too much money ($300) at that lousy rate. I really didn't need so much local currency immediately. I was just trying to save time and bother later but paid quite a price for convenience.

If you go to http://www.shuttlebus.co.cr and prebook your ride from the airport, you will pay with your cc or paypal and it's $9.50. You can give the driver a dollar or two for a tip if you want to.

the dental clinic that i am going to is New Smile dental clinic. Are you familiar with them? I just found them online so i decided to go with them since i did not do much searching.
I will keep that in mind for exchanging money.
What are the major difference besides price with the MP and indy's? Any pros and cons

I would highly recommend calling Esthetic Dental. I just spend 5 days last week over there and they are phenonmenal :!: I got 4 crowns and a root canal. They go way above and beyond and there are many CRT members here who will attest to their skills. It won't hurt to at least talk to Mike Lomax before going down.

Depends on what kind of taxi driver you get. If you have someone who drives on the wrong side of the road and drives over sidewalks in order to get ahead of traffic, the taxi will probably be faster. If they both observe the traffic laws, there will be maybe five minutes difference. That's the time for the shuttle bus to get to the arrival area after you find the guy with the sign.

I reserved Interbus when I flew into SJO. As soon as i got thru Customs and to the exit I saw the guy in the window holding a sign w/my name. Went outside, shuttle pulled up and straight to SL. Traffic at 630am was very busy but I felt good knowing I only paid $10...

Traffic isn't going to be an issue *I think* since I'll be arriving at SJO at 8:30pm. Coming back maybe an issue. The departure time is 8:30am on Monday. I guess I would be leaving the hotel at 6 (or maybe even 5:30 am)
