FYI on SL. I just got back from my first trip to CR and I stayed at the SL based on the chatter here.

1. You may want to avoid a courtyard room. They're adjacent to bar so it's really noisy until about 12am.

2. Girls get to work early over there. I was having breakfast at 10am after my first night and there were already 4 or 5 girls working the bar.

3. Lack of spanish skills is a drawback. It won't interfere with you getting anything done transaction wise, but you're not going to be able to build much rapport or do a through interview before hand (you'll need to trust your gut instincts).

Thanks Travelmutt.

The room I reserved is in the modern wing.I am trying to learn Spanish in my free time but it's not the easiest thing to do. :) The verbs are getting me bogged down. Can't even decide whether pago despues is correct or pagare despues is  Jokes aside, I do find it fun to learn a new language. Not on the first trip but hopefully by the time I get there for my second trip, I will have enough Spanish to carry out a decent conversation.

The gods of mongering seems to be kind to me. Just three weeks ahead of my first trip to CR, I just received a check of $900 from my mortgage bank. It turns out they were overcharging me for the city taxes. :)

I've done an annual trip to SJO for the past six years and have found the SL and La Amistad to be the best places to stay so far. I haven't had a chance to stay at the Dunn Inn yet but the CRT members reviews speak very highly of it. I do think you'll have a good time at the SL. I've gotten to meet a number of CRT members there and they are very friendly and willing to help out the newbies. Bang Bang 57 is quite the storyteller and advice giver and I've enjoyed conversations with him over the years. I had the pleasure of taking the tour he used to provide in the past and that was also very beneficial and educational.

I do not speak Spanish but I try to learn some phrases and new words each time I visit. I have my little "how to speak Spanish" books with me and many of the girls have been quite friendly and willing to help me out with my poor accent and inability to retain more than one word a day. If you're sincere in your efforts, the girls seem pleased that you're trying to learn their language and they tend to treat you with a little more affection and give you some GFE (girlfriend experience) along the way. So don't be afraid to ask them to help you learn the language when you're spending time with them. At least for me, it's made my sessions even more pleasurable and enjoyable. Perhaps you'll experience this, too.

So, I hope you enjoy your visit and have a great time!
