what would/could be a typical food bill for a week in CR for a single gringo resident?

just curious.

Instead of slinging vituperation at another Brother, perhaps Brother LocoHombre could explain the source of the animus. Let's get it out in the open so we can lance the boil. Just a thought...

First let me say:

Come on guys, lay off ID, he did not exactly make a mistake. He was relying on what he knew about Servicmas (and he was correct). BUT as we all know (and he apparently forgot for the moment) is that in CR there is NO absolute!! My opinion of what happened is that for some reason this Servicmas location had not changed their sign. What the sign said was their (Servicmas) starting rate that day, but just as with BCR, it had dropped several times during the day.

That is an impossible question to answer because of all the variables. In general, if a gringo eats most of his meals at home, likes to cook, and prepares a lot of American type meals, he will spend much more than in the states; if he cooks mostly the typical Tico type meal (rice, beans, a salad consisting mostly of shreaded cabbage, and maybe a little meat), he will spend much less! If a gringo eats the majority of his meals out, and in local (Tico Sodas) places, he will spend much less than if he did the same in the states.

I personally like to cook (and eat   ). I eat probably 2/3 of my meals at home and I cook a lot of different types of meals (American, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, French, Nicaraguan, and Tico). 1/3 of the time I eat out, mostly in sodas. I spend about $200 a month but that includes all my housewhole supplies also. I also buy most of my meat, fruit, and fresh veggies at the ferias or local fresh markets which are much cheaper than the markets like MasXMenos, Automercado, Hypermas, etc. BUT, again, just as in the USA, what one individual spends on food can and does vary greatly from one person to the next. I know guys who eat all their meals out and in expensive resturants (muchas colones). I know guys who never eat out and eat nothing but Tico meals (poco colones). And I know guys like me who eat a mixture of foods and in varying locations (home, expensive resturants, and in sodas).

The one thing I will add is: I do not understand how some of the sodas here can prepare and serve food as cheep as they do. My current favorite soda (Buffaloes; a UCR hangout :D   5 blocks from my appt. and 1/2 block from the UCR campus) serves a casada with food piled on an oversized plate (I can not eat it all) for c1750 (less than $3.50) including the drank. They have a menu consisting of about 10 pages and almost everything is less than c2000 including a natural drink. And there are always dozens of hot young coeds to look at (and dream about) while eating!!

BB thanks for the kind words but no need to address the Florida wannabe's rants. Actually you have to feel sorry for someone so lacking in self esteem he posted his own former screen name as a person who you miss posting. Some day he will realize his pitiful imitation of Florida is not eulogizing the man but rather desecrating his memory. I pretty much just his ignore his nonsense posts and would respectfully suggest others due the same.

  Jazzbo, I believe some more dumpster diving is in order, to find the real reason for the animosity....examine ID's posts from the begining, and you shall see.......ID is very skilled at manipulating words, to make himself look good, and others look not so good.....a bully, if you will.....a washed up attorney, who realised he didn't help anybody, just did his job.....open your eyes, and you shall see
