Okay,so On my first trip next month,my first planned stop is a pharmacy,as I want to keep my luggage to a minimum, and only in one carry on bag.

So,can you pick up shampoo and conditioner at pharmacies in CR like you can here?

And #2,the more important question...what do you guys feel you "must have" from the pharmacy when you get there?

It is so I can make a list.

Farmacias are farmacies in Costa Rica. They do not sell shampoo, batteries, candy, greeting cards, etc.

Shampoo, conditioners, etc. are available at super markets.

I imagine it would be cheaper to go to a grocery store, but I could have sworn I've seen mouthwash, deodorant, toothpaste, condoms, lubricants, hair products, etc. at several farmacias in the gulch.

And I guess add Diacort to your list.

You know,I see this Diacort thing everywhere...Why do I always get the feeling it is some kind of a running joke..like sending the new guy for a "box of centers" or a "beam stretcher"

Maybe impotence is a side effect?

Diacort is basically a prescription strength pepto-bismol or imodium. It comes in tablet or liquid form. The liquid is said to work better but doesn't look very appetizing.

Pretty much any hotel you stay at will have little bottles of shampoo for you in the bathroom, sometimes conditioner as well. I don't check luggage most the time and bring travel or trial size bottles under 3.4 ounces in a one quart bag. If you get a strong one quart bag you can really stuff a lot in there.

Surely you guys aren't forgetting your "Vitamins" C,L or V? As for the prescriptions necessary, some farmacias have a "doc in the box" for those.
Add to the list of Diacort's ingredients--I believe it may have some antibiotic in it, making it unavailable in the US. Also available in Colombia under a different name. It's not an inside joke or a "Newbie teaser"--That shit works!

Hidrosin in Colombia.....and yes, you cannot buy it over the counter in the US since it contains a small amount of a anti biotic (about 1/2 of 1%)

anyway, if you are ever suffering from an upset stomach, stuck on the can, etc....that stuff will get you back in action pronto...and I mean pronto.

who wants to lose even a couple of hours much less a day or two due to an upset stomach....

some of the old timers busted my balls about promoting it so much....but yes....that shit works!

(I always bring a bottle back with me)

(see pic 12179 in photos...brother osgood posted a pic of the stuff)
