First trip to SJO in 2 weeks. Stying at the SL, Can't wait.. Done lots of reading and you guys are the best. Great info. I think I have figured out how to avoid most potential bad situations and feel somewhat prepared. Taking Taxi's instead of walking, keeping a cap on my beer bottles to avoid being drugged, no fancy jewlery, lock up stuff in your safe, carrying around a copy of passport w/stamp and min. amount of cash and much more.
One thing I still wonder about and maybe somebody can help me is a " Crazy Chica in your room. :x
Now, I read about a few situations on here. One guy just physically threw her out which sounds a little drastic and wonder if she would call the cops. The thought of a Costa Rica jail kinda scares me.
Another called hotel security and let them deal with it but do they really do it? Another just gave her more money to shut her up and get rid of her, sounds easy but sort like pissing away good money.
I know if I go to MP's I don't have to deal with this but would like to do both. Any suggestions?

JazzT: Your chance of running into a crazy chica at a place like SL is slim. I think Bill has a pretty good handle on security there. This being said, look for signs that they might be a bit strung out on chemicals while you are negotiating the short term lease. This, I think would be the main cause of a "chica eruption" in the room. Also, make sure you don't do anything bonehead in the room (or out of the room) to set them off, they are still chicas and can get highly emotional at an inopportune time. Just be a gentleman, and you'll be OK. The more reputable houses of ill-repute, (HLH, Idem, Relax...) generally don't have this problem. As for the DR...."Son, you're on your own..."

Sound's like good advice Crazyhorse. I will remember that. Glad I picked the SL. The more I read the more DR doesn't sound appealing. Sounds like everything you need is in or around the SL and the DR can me more trouble than it's worth

Jazz T, My two cents worth, take it for what it's worth.

My policy is the same as you've read time and time again, get the details worked out prior to taking the Chica to your room, ya da ya da ya da....and I always make a point of trusting "my gut" and "instinct". In other words at the first hint of "drama" simply say "thank you anyway" and walk away. Quickly if neccesary. Whenever I haven't trusted "my gut" I've been burned by poor performers and or a variety of other "issues". Like I said just my "two cents".

Nonsense, HDR is ground zero so take your vitamins and get in the game! SL is like the retirement home for mongers. :P

As far as crazy chicas that's what the interview process is for, to weed out the hardcores and crazies.

Thanks guys, I think I got my answer and what to look out for, from all the replys you all pretty much say the interview process is where you can weed out potential problems. That was my last unresolved issue that's been resolved and now I'm READY!

Interview process, this is why we keep preaching to hone your Spanish skills. If you do not speak the language you are vulnerable to the “chica loca” syndrome. There are so many ways that you can misunderstand her on negotiations that can make for an explosive condition. Think that you are negotiating anal and she is talking doggie style, you will have an explosive chica in your hands. Interview, interview, interview.

If she blinks a lot, can't stop talking, and acts like she's sitting on an anthill, stay away.

I speak from experience. During my last trip. AT SL, not HDR. I will withhold the chica's name but she's slim, has a decent butt, dyed blonde hair and fore-and-aft tattoos.

JazzT: I concur with Rascal. Always trust your gut feeling. I say again, always trust your gut feeling. If you have to override your gut with reason...you've made the wrong decision. I probably could have financed a whole trip if I had just walked away from the chicas who seem right for right then. I cannot stress this enough.
