Hi all,

I am a newbie, going to CR for first time, for work in end of December and stay for few weeks.

I have been reading all the newbie material and it sure all sounds exciting.
I am an asian living in US, but lot of people (including latinos) tell me I look like a latino in 30s, and I definitely don't look like a gringo.

I will be staying in a suburb of San Jose. So I have gathered that I will have to go to the city for any action.

So what are my prospects given all the attention grabbed by white americans at all their favorite haunts. Do pros have a preference or feel more comfortable with any race? What about non-pros?

I am personally included towards non-pros as I just feel they will be more relaxed (and not thinking about the getting the next job) and are less reckless in their escapades.

I can speak and understand quite a bit of spanish.

I would say that I am willing to pay a few $ extra for a hassle-free experience where I am not vying for the few 8-9s girls among a lot of interested men.

Also, since I am staying outside of San Jose, what are best choices for a safe short stay (I prefer to pay a few extra $ for a clean/safe place) of 2-3 hours in San Jose.

And till what time in night is it safe to take a taxi from San Jose back to where I will stay.

BTW, is Dec. end alta temporada for playing?

TIA.

Relax, you'll be fine. Treat the ladies nice and they won't care if you are green. Most of the hotels listed here as "chica friendly" will have a 2 hour rate.

Enjoy!

I have seen pretty much every ethnic type person in the gultch. The main rules are be pleasant, not obnoxiously drunk, and clean.

Enjoy!

Don't worry too much about your looks. There aren't too many of us who are 10's (or 9's, 8's or7's!).

Knowing some Spanish will put you far above the crowd of occasional visitors. Be sure to study the "special" phrases in the Newbies section that you will need to know for negotiations. They don't teach those in class!

If you are planning to hit the gulch after you business is completed, why don't you just consider staying there? It would simplify matters considerably. You wouldn't have to taxi back and forth to the suburbs and you would have a place to take your chica(s). There are many reasonably priced hotels in the area.

If you plan to make short visits to the gulch, visiting some of the MP's might be a good option for you. You wouldn't have to rent a room. HLH has a bar and a good selection of girls. Many of the other MP's don't have much in the way of facilities for their guests.

If you do decide to hit the HDR or venture around the gulch, I would recommend that you try to find someone to be your wingman. Many CRT members can be found at various hotels around the gulch but especially in the HDR and SL.

Be advised that you may encounter a decrease in the number of girls that are working at the end of December. Many of the girls go home for Christmas and do not return until Jan or until their money runs out. The freelance action in the HDR can sometimes be frustrating if the girl/boy ratio is not good. Often the girls will be tough to budge off of demanding cien.

Hope you enjoy yourself!

Hung-lo would be the one who could really answer all your questions but he seems to be having too much fun somewhere else that he doesn't post here anymore. I met him there briefly a few years ago and it seemed that he was having a lot of fun. You'd do just fine!

Thanks to everyone for sharing.
Looks like it should be cool, but choices might be limited towards the end of the year/new year. Oh well.
Which of the gulch hotels usually have a best walk-in availability for short stays?
