Comprehension isn't everything. the tongue must learn to be fluid. Whether you watch telemundo or use Rosetta Stone which I advocate, you must actively and orally speak and copy EVERY sentance you hear and try to perfect the accent. That is what will grease your tongue so to speak. Once you fluidize your tongue with their tongue, your tongue may may tongue you to new heights of pleasure when you actually get to CR.

I still believe the more you comprehend and speak, things like an accent will come. I'm all for the advice to speak with an accent, I just feel adding that on top of everything else one can start to feel defeated quickly.

I think taking a piece of all the suggestions above and seeing what's best for you is the way to go. 8)

Thanks. Speaking of accents, I read in my Spanish text that in CR, they don't roll double r's like other spanish speakers do.

I don't know about that, but you should roll r's if you can. What you do with that along with many other things is what will give Johnny Bravo his accent 8)

Johnnybravo,

That's my observation as well. However, there are some words, e.g., 'hierro' where double rr's are rolled. I've not been able to put my finger on the exact grammatical custom. Also, double ll's are given a soft 'j' sound, not like the j in 'john,' but more like the sound in 'zsa zsa.' I have another discourse on the use of 'tu' and 'usted' in CR, but that is a different story.
