This thread is an old one so don't know if I will get a response, but here is my quandry: I want to learn Spanish, but I don't want to get bored doing so. I lived in Italy and France for a while and can get by reasonably well in both languages and therefore already know or can quickly pick up some basic Spanish. Does anyone out there know of a Spanish program that will progress at your own rate of learning without being overly repetitive?
Someone mentioned "My Spanish Coach", a Nintendo DS game that is less repetive as you learn. Does Rosetta Stone respond in that manner as well?

Try one of these -

Synergy Spanish or Shortcut to Spanish - very well done course available for download and very inexpensive, around $40 bucks each. They focus on getting you speaking ASAP, with Spanish you can use immediately, not grammer. Not high quality audio, but good instruction and more than adequate unless you're some sort of high quality audio freak.

Rocket Spanish - An audio course that comes with a software program too.

SpanishPod.com (free)

Learning Spanish Like Crazy - This is a bit repetitive but you WILL learn Spanish if you stick with it, and is MUCH cheaper than Rosetta and Pimsler. You also get access to a weekly teleclass (by phone) as a part of the purchase. A really nice benefit if you have no one to practice with.

Thanks Tjaddict. :) I am trying the six free introductory Rocket Spanish courses right now. Don't know if there is a typo in those lessons or if 'I' is used in place of 'L' in Spanish, but since I am originally from Los Angeles I have a feeling their introductory free lesson two has a typo. :? I may just bite the bullet and pay the extra dollars for Rosetta Stone.
