In the event that you are a newbie to CR reading this forum in anxious preparation for a first trip there please keep in mind the above subject matter.

It matters not if you are on a 3 day jaunt or a full 2 week vacation to the
"land of lovely Latinas" the venues offered in and about SJ have the ability to fully exhaust a man physically.

Many years ago the standard field training exercise (FTX) for the US Army was for about 3 days or 72 hours. For the non combat arms veterans of the USA and USMC the reason this was because a good man in good shape could generally push himself hard and get a minimum of rest for this short FTX and still be productive and get the job done. In the early to mid 80s FTXs started to be elongated out to 2-4 weeks forcing soldiers to put in place a rest plan to be able to operate effectively for this prolonged period.

Brothers there is a lesson in this for all of us. If you are only in the gulch for 2-3 days the temptation is great to try to phuck all the time. Im still a relatively young man and I made the mistake of trying this strategy for a full 10 days on my first trip to CR last year.

I've been in the BM and have seen both older and younger mongers make the mistake of mixing Vitamin C w/ too much alcohol and falling off their barstool. I have seen guys faces go crimson from flushing from having taken too many Erectile Immprovement drugs in too high a dose in too short a time interval.

Even young athletic mongers can exhaust themselves ! Many times it's a question of what's gonna give out first, your wind or your penis.

I strongly endorse doing your cardio well in advance of your trip, it will help you enjoy your escape even more. Also realize that for most this will not be your first and only trip to CR. For most first time visitors it is not the end, it is not the beginning, but it is the end of the beginning You will now find yourself like Eve after she had eaten of the apple. You will now have knowledge of both GOOD & EVIL.

One of the things that I do like about traveling to Jaco is that for the most part mongering is limited to the night somewhat forcing one to get some much needed rest during the daytime.

I've had an older buddy go out at night and pick up a hot chica, negotiate a good deal only to get her back to his room and not be able to do the deal . This was toward the end of a longer trip, to give my friend his due.
However my point is that you can exhaust yourself to a point that Viagra
can no longer help you.

Bottom line is that you will enjoy your overall trip much better if you pace yourself and get enough rest.

Rainman, very good advice.

While I've never had trouble putting "points on the board" while in San Jose I have had a recurring problem on each trip.

After a few days of too much smoke (I don't smoke), too many late nights and too little sleep my throat gets very sore. I can feel myself getting more worn down as the trip goes on.

I've tried to nap but it just doesn't work for me. Too much to do and too little time to do it all in. You gotta pace yourself.

This is why one should involve themselves in day trips out of the gulch. Costa Rica has many other things to offer besides mongering. Don't like physical activities? Try a sight seeing tour. Zoo, jungle, museums........
Mongering is just a side-bar for me.

I agree - great advice, but saying it and actually doing it are two different things altogether.

I once found it almost impossible to pace myself during a trip - especially after I hooked up with a certain former (and much younger) wingman who seemed to have an almost endless capacity for partying till the wee hours of the morning. On the fourth day or so of a typical trip, the gastric issues and lack of rest would be enough that it would be all I could do to get through another session.

These days I generally don't push it quite as hard. Makes a big difference for me calling it a night around 2am rather than 5am - also, I try to get a good night's rest the first night in town to make up for the redeye travel getting in that day. I also try and work in a few trips to the gym, where no matter how lousy I feel before I get there, I always feel better walking out.

Still, on a short five or six night trip, it's tough to resist the temptation to go at it full force. So many chicas, so little time...

Will be my first time down FEB 11 - 16 and have been in full cardio workout in anticipation even though i am in good shape. Have spent three days in TJ and wore my ass out. Also hate to see my fat ass in a mirror whilst pounding a fine chica :x Great side benfits to this mongering thing. :)

Rainman,

Great post! Good advice!

I can’t think of a better reason to loose a few lb’s than an upcoming mongering trip. We all need a goal when we workout and the thought of the workout that the chicas (Pamela… ) will be giving me…well you get the picture. :D :D :D I think GR put it as “CR boot camp”…

Now remember as your “hitting the wall” at your gym you say to yourself…I’m a lean, mean, phucking machine…

Mendo
