Disclaimer: Looked a little bit but didn't really find anything (that's for those that might tell me to "search"   )

Perhaps we could have, in a single place (even NOT for Newbies only), which places are open, the hours, and maybe the best time for the best selection ???

e.g. I believe Zona Blue is around 10 AM til 8 PM (or so) ?

Idem is a similar deal, but opens later than ZB.

Del Rey is 24/7 but Key Largo is evening only (?)

Pantera Rosa is later at night, 10:30 til 5 (?) but Kamur opens earlier (8 PM ?)

Or do you guys think the San Jose Map is good enough ? Is it updated regularly ? Some places say "daytime" or "nightime". While that's better than nothing........

Or maybe just a "sticky" on the forum directing us to the MAP would suffice ???

Just a thought.

Spock your thinking about this dilemma too logically...what are you a Vulcan. :) Many of the places mentioned are hit and miss meaning there is really no best time. Basically it is the luck of the draw when you arrive. If there is one thing consistent about the hours and women in SJ is that there is no consistency in the hours of operation and women available in SJ (well except the BM because it is 24/7). The map is definitely sufficient to at least give you a chance to be in the right place at the right time. Live Long and Prosper.

Spock,
First thing you have to do is learn the meaning of "tranquillo". Take it easy, it will all come to you very easily once you hit the ground.

Just read all you can on CRT and take a couple copies of the map with you. Yes, it is as accurate and up-to-date as any resource you'll find.

Everything is subject to change. Some massage and nightclubs have been known to send the girls home if things get too slow.

As for the places you mentioned here are the basic hours:
Zona Blue and New Fantasy: 9-9. The majority of the girls work somewhere around 12-8.
IDEM: 3-midnight
Pantera Rosa: 10:30pm-4am
Kamur: 8pm-4am

Read RBC100's "sticky" under Massage Parlor and Tico bar list: for the most up to date info on the more obscure places. When you get to San Jose you can get the latest info. For the rest of the places just check them out when you get there, that's half the fun.

Consider yourself very lucky to have any advance information at all. Some of the info posted here, and elsewhere, is not always complete, up to date or even totally accurate. It is a collection of VALUABLE DATA that has been assembled over the years by a lot of us who are willing to share our experiences to help others have a better vacation.
When I started coming to CR, there was NO info available except for the old WSG board and the TSM. Now there are many sources of very good information available to anybody who wants it FOR FREE.
I consider myself lucky to have made many friends via this and other discussion boards. Admin 1 has done an admirable job of keeping CRT going and growing but most of us CR vets met via Rico`s old board (costaricasex.com).
:D :D We have come a very long way in a very short time and I am glad to have been a part of it all. :D :D

There is a concept called time that Americans understand and there is another concept called "tico time". They are not the same thing. I went to one establishment at 9:30 and was told we don't open until 9. But, it's 9:30... Yes, and we don't open until 9. I know that but it's 9:30. Yes, and we don't open until 9. I finally just gave up and came back 20 minutes later and they were open.

Spock,

Morning, noon, evening, late…Yes…anytime you want it! :D

Relax, pour yourself a rum and cola and keep reading trip reports…then read Ace’s list and download one of the maps…then start counting the hours till you touch down in CR…

My best advice…stop by the SL bar (11am-11pm) and have a drink and introduce yourself to the guy(s) at the bar and find another CRT member…not hard to do. Then when you tell them you are a newbie, watch their eyes light up with the thought of showing you ZB, BM, ect…If you are staying at the SL just ask Bill to introduce you to whoever is around, he is a great host and knows his guests!

Have a great trip, and make sure that you write a trip report for those of us who wish we could get down there every weekend…

In the Massage palor section RBC has a list on the first line showing times and days. With addresses. Print it and take it with you.

The Hotel Del Ray is 24hr's.

Still trying to figure out Tico Time. 9 means 10 and so on and so on. Guess it all boils down to, they open when the chicas show up.
Later, SB

the little darlings usually start showing up at the Calle 6 MP's about 8:30

sometimes, I have a quick breakfast at one of the small cafes along Avenida 5 around 8 am and end up chatting with them as they stop for a cup of coffee or breakfast themselves before work.

you get a chance to chat with them and pick up the runious tab (300 to 700 colones) and them session with them within the hour when the MP's open.

I love that part of San Jose, and the early morning hours make for a safe environment.

another tip, pick up a copy of La Nacion. some of the little darlings are happy to have something to read when you leave it in the waiting area during your session.

(make sure you pick it back up when you leave, don't want to get beat for 200 colones.)

but seriously, a copy of La Nacion under your arm will often attract some little darling regardless of the location, morning coffee at the BM, etc...

ps...this doesn't work if they're a 'blink'.
