Just wondering if there is still a problem cashing some of these. Will be at Sl Feb 21 thru March 2nd. Come down each year about this time. Me and a buddy bring golf clubs and play both Cariari and Valle Del Sol. Anyone interested, We will see you in the bar. |

$100 bills have always been a little more difficult to work with than smaller denominations. I have not heard of any new problems with certain serial number prefixes and suffixes but still think you better to carry smaller bills and even better fewer bills and use your ATM card. |

The Hotel Pres. still dislikes the bills with CB serial numbers, or any torn, incomplete bills. I always bring only 100´s but just make sure they are almost flawless. |

If I have problems with US dollars, I just take and throw it on the craps table at the Colonial...........then decide that the table is either too cold/hot, and cash the chips out........in colones. My first two trips down, I had some 20 dollar bills turned down, either a mark or tear..........so I just thought of another way of doing things. Either go the casino route or pay the chicas with them. |

When I was down in December the Morazon would not accept a bill with the CB serial number. I had no problems at the Del Rey. Ran into a problem again at the Fiesta Casino. The cage girl had to have the floor supervisor sign off of the $100 bill that I presented. Next time down I'm not going to even mess with $100's. Just bring a ton of 20's and 50's. dapanz1 |

What kind of exchange rate do you get doing that. I do not gamble so I do not know if the chips you get for your USD are in colones or USD denominations. Lets assume the current bank exchange rate is 500 colones to the $1. You toss down a $100.00 note. If the chips are in USD value how many do you get? I would assume they would value $100.00. When you cash them out at the caja how many colones do you get 50,000 or some lesser amount? Going the other route if the chips are valued in colones what are the value of the chips, in colones, you get for your $100.00? |

I have always seen the chips in denominations of Colones. Never in dollars. At least not that I can ever remember. |

Just remember no series AB, CB, or BZ for 100s. As Paco mentioned the bills must be flawless, this includes 50s and 20s. As for the chicas, I always pay in colones. Will be back at the Pres. Feb. 15 - March 5. |

Thanks for the replies. I have never had a problem in the past, as I always make sure the bills are in good condition. I am afraid I hav`nt posted in the past, but enjoy the forum and get valuable info on it. This will be my7th trip to CR. I am a friend of Roccio and she commends me on my improvement in Spanish each new trip. Big Mark was who intruduced us to her about 3 years ago. I also have a very good friend who works for California waffle co, which supplies a lot of the restuarents with their waffle and pancake mix. A friend of mine owns the co. which is worldwide. We have always stayed at the Presidente in the past, but last year met Bill Alexander and we were impressed with his place and hospitality, also met Tman at the SL. We have booked suites in the new wing and are looking forward to our trip. Usually play golf during the day, a trip to ZB in the afternoon, a nap and then a nice dinner in the pm with some of the local ladies we have become to know, not really late nite partiers. I am sure that we will recognize mant CRT guys and look forward to putting faces to handles. See you soon |

The only potential problem is with $100 bills with CB in the serial part, Colombia manufactured a hugh amout of bogus bill, with CB in the serial part. |

The bills that are still a problem here in CR start with the letters CB. Underneath the CB they say B2 and they are series 2001. The Colonial as well as many other places will NOT accept them.I always exchange them at the Horseshoe by telling them that I got them there. |
