Saw this on CNN online today and figured I'd post it in case someone might be interested in hopping around to a few different Central American countries during their travels via Air Costa Rica and Air Panama. Not really sure if this a good thing or a bad thing, because it's a good thing to get the morons who pay hundreds of dollars for a session out of CR and into some other country ...but then it might be a bad thing if those morons get to other countries so they can ruin the chica markets in those countries too. http://www.cnn.com/2006/TRAVEL/01/11/ce ... index.html |

I was actually thinking the same thing regarding Air Panama and Air Costa Rica, but I have never heard of either of them or seen them listing flights from the states to Central America. It will be interesting to see how this idea plays out and it would be nice if they could work a Colombia stop into the package at a reasonable price. My experience has been that even though Colombia is relatively close to CR the prices from Chicago are roughly twice as much as CR, the flight schedules are much more limited, and to get to Cartagena it is a three segment trip which burns a whole day traveling getting there and also getting back rather than a two segment trip to San Jose which can be done in as little as 7 hours. It would appeal to me to hang out for a few days in each country (CR and Colombia) on the same trip if the price was right. |

$199 isn't very cheap to me. San Jose to Bocas. Alas, I'll do the bus. They say it is pretty comfortable. |

Sansa and Nature Air had EIGHT crashes in Costa Rica during 2005. In the past there was usually ONE crash/per year between them but 2005 was a truly scary year. A very good friend of mine tried to charter the last one that killed a Man,his wife, and three Ch*ldren on a charter to Tamarindo. He missed out by a matter of hours in getting the charter for business. |

VB, Are you sure of that number? I recall one Nature Air crash and no Sansa crashes in 2005. There may well have been eight crashes but most were small charter company or private aircraft accidents. |

I think this is just an attempt to establish more European style tour travel. I doubt it will have much effect on mongering. I think these "all inclusive" type tours cater to the less adventurous and allow the travel provider to restrict the group to certain partnered establishments that can then charge ridiculous tourist rates. |
