Post subject: | Possible Visit To Honduras |
Hey guys: My GF of over one year is Honduran living in SJ. She has proposed that for my next visit, that I fly into San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She and the K*ds will meet me there and spend time with her family and also rent a car to tour the country. I understand that it is a warmer and drier climate. I would be curious to hear from any of you who have spent time there. I am aware that they are starting to have some unrest there at times, but that is happening other places too. |

Be careful. San Pedro is one of the more dangerous places in Central America, though they are doing their best to clean it up. SPS is hot and humid. It's a short hop to the Bay Islands, the beach at Tela and the ruins at Copan. |

Could be a ploy to get you to feel sorry for the way they live so if you are weak, best limit your visits to SJ. I would care less about safety since she and her family will be able to steer you clear of the most obvious dangers. If I were considering this: If I didn't speak spanish (I don't) it would be an unpleasant trip for me, because so much is said and you haven't any idea and when you speak they have no idea. If you know Spanish, your visit will be 1000% times better. |

Gringo Malo, your motto is Quote: My life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...." MAN....WHAT A RIDE!!!!"
Go for it! Go to Honduras. How many people get the chance to do that. Keep your wits about you, but see how they live. Can you smell it? Breathe it in deep... it's life. RHM ![]() P.S. Bet they've never seen a cheesehead before. |

If he's from the frozen tundra of LAMBERT FIELD, then he's from St. Louis. Being from near Chicago I don't know what's worse. Some one from the LAMBEAU FIELD of Green Bay or someone from St. Louis. ![]() dapanz1 |

Dapanz, GM 's stats: Quote: Location: Somewhere near the "Frozen Tundra of LAMBERT FIELD (John Fing Kerry)"
He's from Wisconsin. Senator Kerry got the name wrong while on the campaign trail. Endeared him to cheeseheads forever. RHM |

Thanks Guys: My espanol improves everyday. She has my trust and my love. I will do more research via the State Department about reports of violence. I do keep my wits about me and my sense of humor. Remember, I am the nut that walked out of a bus station near coca cola at 3 in the am, no taxis in sight and walked a few blocks with a " don't Phuck with me" attitude. |

Spanish is more important in Honduras than CR. As far as personal safety, with your girlfriend as your guide you should not have any problems. You should avoid displays of jewelry or even a watch or any display of money. You may want to read the State Dep't FAQ on Honduras, they usually mention some danger in transport from the airport to SPS. Having said all that, I like Honduras. There is a little town called El Progreso outside of San Pedro that is fairly nice, I used to stay at a hotel there called La Plaza Victoria. Be careful and have fun! |
