Post subject:  Change

I hate change. Yesterday was especially hard on someone like me. I haden't been in the gultch for sometime. I met a friend for breakfast and afterwards, we took a walk. As we were walking by the Hotel Morazan, I noticed that the little Japaneese resturant accoss the street has been replaced by a clothing store. A little further up the block, on the same side of the street, we come to the site of the old Gordys which is now called "Dos Gringos". Can't tell you much about it but it appears that its not open for lunch - so much for my 1300.00 colones lunch I used to enjoy there.
We walk a little further (still on the same side) and I see a sign in the window of a bar which I knew as Goya. Well, Goya is gone and in its place is an ad proclaiming that this will be the site of Costa Rica's first Irish Pub and its due to open Dec. 1st. No sign that they are going to make it. (All boarded up but there's still tonight). A little further up the street and I notice that Casablanca is now called Centerfolds. Evidently, they sold it to new owners and they like the name Centerfolds better.
Next, we jog left and go down to Ave. Central where I notice more changes making me even more depressed. Oh Well... :(

Chill LV Steve...I think all the changes are for the better. If these new owners want to succeed they will probably have to put some pressure on the Policia to control the druggies and beggers.

Post subject:  Gordy's/Faro's corner

When I was first down in CR, Gordy's/Faro's was an Italian restaurant around the corner from the Bikini Bar and it was across from a gay bar, that had previously been a hooker bar, and has since been Su Escorial, Tentaciones, Casablanca, ... That neighborhood flips businesses rapidly. How many times have you seen them redo the bar area at the Hotel Morizan?
