Sure wish that you were right, Goal. Unfortunately, I've met a good number of seemingly normal gringos who were actively searching out und***ge girls or proudly sharing their experiences of supposed conquest of minors. As soon as these conversations start, I pack up my cerveza and head for the other side of the room.

Actually I think Goal is correct in the basic thrust of his statement if not in the exact number. Maybe it isn't 99.99% but the VAST majority of the und***ge sex trade IS local. But even if even just 0.01% is by foreigners, and I think it much more than that, then clearly one can't say that NO gringo does it.

One could just as easily say that 99.99% of gringo sex tourists are not dumb enough to risk everything for that idiocy. Again, I think the number of pedophiles among us may be higher than that but is clearly a TINY minority. But even if it is just a small handful that is WAY too many.

The problem is that for every guy that CRFan hears boasting stupidly about his sick exploits (btw, I've run into extremely few like that), how many others are there lurking in the corners that are at least smart enough to keep their practices to themselves? This is perhaps the most valid argument that the campaigners against Ch*ld sex tourism have for also discriminating against more mainstream sex tourism. We help provide an environment (for the most part unwittingly) where these creeps can hide.

I share your repugnance whenever I hear overt references to such disregard for basic human values, whether its taking sexual advantage of a minor or treating a working girl with blatant disrespect. However, maybe the reaction we should all take in such a situation is not merely to relocate ourselves across the room but to LOUDLY and publicly call them out and embarass these guys for their comments. If they give you back shit for butting in to "their business", tell them it's "their business" that is bringing down heat on ALL of us. Let them know that their behavior is not acceptable EVEN to their fellow mongers and that we won't look the other way and let them hide among us. Also, if any of us are nearby in the bar and hear this, we should ALL join in the chorus of condemnation. If anyone is going to move, let it be the pedophiles to slink away outside the bar in shame (preferably handcuffed and into a waiting police car)
