Several times I have read guys asking about pools at hotels and or lack of same in the gulch.Well, there is a glorious park out near the airport. It is named "Ojos de Aqua." 600c for adults, k*ds free.
This place is large:5 pools from kiddie to Olympic with 3 & 4(maybe 5) meter diving platforms, scenic lake, lockers, shower rooms, restaurant & bar that is good and very inexpensive(tico all the way), even a soccer field and basketball court.
This is a great place to bring your chica. If you want to score points with her, invite her K*ds. You will be amazed at some of these chicas when you take them out of the gulch(some of them really do have a heart).
Weekends there is live music and lots of local chicas working on their tans.
OBTW, you can buy inexpensive bathing suits for the chica there. Also, we took the Alajuela bus and got off near the Alajuela D'Palufos, then took a short taxi ride to the park. It is very close to SJO.

Are you sure you have the location right? It sounds like you're talking about the water park that is located not far from the BW Irazu, which is not near the airport?

Actually it's been there for about 40 years, I've never been there, not too convinced about sanitary conditions.

As Drogon said, I am not very conviced either, but is a well know place for us ticos. Sure I've there and there is plenty of people over the weekends.

To be exact, Ojo de agua is located in San Antonio de Belen (belongs to Heredia, but is pretty close to the airport.

To get there from the airport towards San Jose take the first right before the traffic light. Follow the road downhill and then come up ( close to 2 miles from the exit) it's on the right hand side.

Enjoy it if you plan to go.

Mente

Mente...that sounds like it's very near the Hotel Heradurra. Or is it more
towards the Marriott?

More towards the Mariott. Very close to that strip mall in Belen.

Ojo de Agua is as third world as you can get.
