Dont think the Ticos can win this game...even at home. I think home is going to be the safest place to watch this massacre in Costa Rica. Last game I went to was with mexico...the Ticos took a beating and were throwing whatever they could at the Mexican team as they left the field. For that reason, the next home game at Suprissa stadium was played to totally empty stands...only viewed on TV. With current undercurrents of anti American sentiments, primarily centered around the free trade agreement ratification...I personally dont think this game is a safe place for gringos to go to live. Just my opinion...and unfortunate. Someone staying at the Presidente might ask the tour desk there where to buy tickets. I know the owner has connections:) |

Tman. I was at that game too. You americans have nothing to worry about. ( as far as I know) Mexico is and always will be our main rival in soccer matters. I don't think the free trade has anything to do with a situation at a stadium. "my opinon only " Ticos are not know for throwing things or taking against other teams fans. that happened against Mexico is the result of many years of rivality in the field and as well an act of repulsion against the way our team played. Tickets if I am not mistaking are being sold at Banex bank and also at AS fried Chicken restaurants. My two cents |

I went to saprissa stadium today around noon. The people in the ticket office said the game has been sold out for a long long time. But a scalper walked up to me with a hand full of tickets. I bought 2 in the second row in the middle of the field. Seat 9027-9028 Platea Este. The face value was 15,000 but he wanted twice that. He would only come down a little to 120USD for both. I tried everything even left in the taxi but no luck. Right when I was leaving another guy showed up. Too bad I could have made them compete against each other. The scalpers ph is 836-7439 if anyone is interested. Maybe tickets are available elsewhere for face value. I tried for 3 days with no luck. I plan on going to the game with a bonita Tica Rica and will carry and wave a small CR flag. I hope not to get hassled but who knows? I will root for le sele as the USA has already qualified. If the Ticos win they qualify also and what a party will occur after. The USA played the second string their last game against guatamala and tied 0-0. So yes I think the Ticos will win, they have been on a roll lately. |

Thanks for the update Mente. I hope you are right...but seeing the students burning the US flag this week and blocking off the city in reaction to the trade agreements that in my opinion they do NOT understand...it makes me real hesitant to go to a stadium full of Ticos...a large portion of whom are students, competing against USA. While I think most Americans are relatively safe in gringo gulch...I am not too excited about going to an international event like this one with current sentiment. especially at $130 per ticket ![]() Hope you all have a good and safe time. I'll be looking for CRT hats and tshirts on TV ![]() |

zman, those are good seats a little close to the fence though,For costa rica v mexico we were in plata oeste, seat's 5209 upward's, all row L,the american supporters(SAM'S Army)will be directly opposite up high,it's gonna be a great night, you can take the tibas bus from calle 2 and ave 5 to get there, and no big screen replay so keep your eye on the game, your lady will love it.................... |
