But seriously, if more Americans we willing to take those jobs at lower wages, outsourcing wouldn't be as big an issue. Aside from the level of skill that foreigners possess (which is often higher than their American counterparts, especially in IT), they are willing to work for 1/3 to 1/2 of the salary that US workers demand. It's a no-brainer for the firms, after all they are trying to maximize shareholder value. Since the politicians have noticed the outsourcing trend lately, they are working on legislation to give US firms incentives (i.e. tax breaks) not to outsource.
But I don't think you will see too many more gringos in CR. The whole point of outsourcing is to tap the talent pool of the locals. And also, they will also demand a lower wage than a gringo. But it's true this will cost Americans' jobs.
