Hopefully our idiotic US Govt will cease categorizing people eventually...

Kind of reminds me when I lived in South Florida.

The first shock came when in polls published in the Miami Herald I was no longer classified as Caucasian. I suddenly became "non Hispanic white".

Then the 13 member County Commission redistricted the county to ensure minority representation as well as representation reflective of the population.. The end result of that.. 1 non Hispanic white seat, 3 African American seats and 9 Hispanics.

Now given all this was I now classified as a minority, not a chance, I was still considered a majority.

Like the term "third world" "minority" is probably a term that should become archaic because it often no longer describes what it supposedly describes.

Women in the US have also often been described as a "minority" group although they make up a majority of the population. Why?

Because women were once treated like "minorities," typically holding inferior socioeconomic status compared to white male pigs like myself. Oink.

Interesting to note groups who continue to cling to their "minority" label, despite its literal innaccuracy, appear to benefit from marching under the banner of their "minority" label. If they didn't benefit they would abandon the label.
