CRT CODE OF CONDUCT

There are some rules of this discussion forum, most have been unwritten, most deal with respect and common sense some are things we take very seriously and will not tolerate.

I felt due to the quality of members that posting this announcement was not necessary, but due to our rapid growth, some new members need to read, and please take heed.

As you know, we bend over backwards in order to maintain freedom of expression, thoughts, and ideas as well. There have been times due to blatant attempts to disrupt this forum, where drastic measures have been taken i.e. banning.

Here are some simple guidelines to follow yet policies that will be enforced!

1. Just a reminder Guys regarding our Policy Here at CRT. We are all gentlemen and I can say without hesitation we have had no trouble here as it pertains to any of these issues but we wanted to Reiterate what we believe is a policy that is to be followed by all.

1.A Any person who in any way shape or from attempts to discuss, promote, or receive information regarding illegal activities as it relates to minors will be banished immediately. Furthermore this person will be reported to the Costa Rican Authorities!!!!!!!!

1.B We here at CRT do not in anyway shape or form, promote, pimp or act in anyway towards the solicitation of prostitution that would violate any of the laws that are set forth by the Costa Rican Government. We abide by the rules set forth and hope that all of our members also follow suit.

1 C. Please also refrain from making any attempts at discussion regarding illegal drugs!...

I am sure everyone agrees with this and nobody will have a problem with our actions as it pertains to the above. Remember this is for the protection of all members but we have a Zero Tolerance level on any of the above.

2. Respect: We can all agree to disagree, but do so in a manner suitable as gentlemen. If you feel that things are getting personal in nature, take you disagreement to the area of private message. We also encourage respect not only for each other, but for the ladies as well.

3. There will be no flaming at all allowed on this board.

4. If you have a problem that you cannot resolve between you, then you can take it to one of the administrators.

5. Before action is taken, administrators discuss each situation before taking final action.

6. Any person who willingly makes unfounded accusations or statements regarding any member of the board or the board itself will be given a warning. A continued effort will result in the poster being banned.

7. All private messages are indeed private. Any cutting and pasting of private messages into the public forum will cause for that poster be given a warning. Any follow up of the same incident will be result in the poster being banned.

8. Spam on any part of the board, whether it be solicitation of services or otherwise is strictly prohibited.

9. Any threats made towards another board member public or private will be handled accordingly. This is one of the most serious matters addressed here and we do not tolerate any types of threats and the offender is subject to immediete banning.

10. Please do not post any photos inside of threads on the discussion forum. The drawing of photos from outside sources slows down the board and the ability for our members to view it. (Thank you for your consideration).

11. Please do not place any hyperlinks to photos or videos that contain pornography. The board is public and these links can be viewed by anyone. Thank you!

We consider this board to be your board. It was formed so that each of us could exchange ideas, experiences, thoughts, and share them with others. I know several of the gentlemen here and we have some quality individuals here who have a vast amount of experience in Costa Rica. Each gentleman I know leaves this wonderful place better than they found it.

We appreciate your cooperation, we love having you here, and the best is yet to come.

Pura Vida

These rules have been in place in since the beginning but they were buried in the newbie section. I have re-posted them here for everyone to take a look at to remind you of our code of conduct.

Administrators of https://costaricaticas.com

What is the rule or policy regarding a single person who uses multiple identities/memberships/logins?

Please delete this and reply with a PM if you feel that my question is inappropriate.

IMHO This issue becomes important, if any of the following activities occur:
* "Ganging up" on another member by using multiple identities to create the false illusion of consensus,
* multiple votes in polls where a prize is being awarded,
* attempts to dilute one's actual posting percentage to avoid criticism.
* gain re-admission to the forum by simply swapping to an alternate identity.

I'm sure there are other situations where allowing one member to use multiple identities gives said member unfair advantage or causes trouble.

This is not aimed at any particular member, and is not to be construed as such. However, there are numerous posts on this forum which appear to have identical writing styles, errors in grammar which are consistent between posters, etc.

Honestly: THere is no set rule, but I do Check IP's every time there is a particular questionable argument or thread for that exact occurence.

To this point I have not found the "Ganging up" to have existed here with the same person using multible handles.

There is no rule as I monitor for such activity and unless I'm sleeping at the keyboard it should not happen.

Since an incident a few days ago and some in the past recently I locked down the edit feature on the board. I will remove it based on the following...

Gentlemen: Please if you start a thread once it begins do not edit your original thought or delete the original thread once responses begin. It tends to cause confusion as the responders then the subsequent readers have absolutely no idea what is going on.

We are all adults here.. and I expect that we act as so. If you would like your original thread or post removed please contact me and I will review the situation an act accordingly. The continue abuse of the aforementioned will cause a permanent lock down of the edit function within the scope of the board itself.

DJ: Sorry I can not put a time limit on edit functions nor can I just take it away from just abusers... the incidents although far and in between were blatant and I hope it will not happen again....

Thank you and please obey this board rule in the future.

Is there a way you can put a time limit on the edit function?

Maybe give the guys 30 minutes to rethink their thoughts.

I often edit to correct poor writing or to add clarification. I've also corrected some previous posts when I've found that a restaurant no longer exists. I'd be sad to lose these options, but I tried reading a thread with lots of response to a mystery post, so I see the issue. I hope it doesn't come to that, since I like to rethink syntax at times. Like many members here, I'm not always sober when I write stuff.

Dutch,

Sometimes one needs to be patient. Guys on CRT don't earn their living here, nor do they spend most of their time reading the Forums or their PM's. You just need to be patient .

Also, guys are more likely to answer PM's that are polite and well written. I'm not saying that your PM's were not polite, but you'll get more replies by simply being kind in your inquiries and using the manners Mom taught you.

Finally, did you try polite reminders a couple weeks after the original PM? I know that I have never failed to get a response from either Prolijo or Sandanista. Also, I never fail to reply.

I know that some guys here won't bother to answer "bonehead" questions. Bonehead questions are those which could be just as easily answered by doing a quick search or by reading recent posts to the forum. That being said, a lot of guys (myself included) will try to answer even bonehead questions. :D

I would suggest sending a polite repeat of your original messages to these guys and see what happens.

Thanks Dutch! Hope this helps some.

Gentlemen:
I do not mean to be the party pooper, but I have to ask that the exchange of banter between individuals is getting out of hand... Please keep the smack talk in the smack talk section.

A perfect example is the TLN Thread regarding Zona Blue:

A topic is opened there are 31 responses and 6 of them refer to the topic with the balance of ball busting other members. This is the exact thing that we are talking about with regards to hijacking posts.

I respectfully request in the future the smack talk be kept where it belongs. If you have nothing significant to respond to a thread with than please leave it alone.

I am not trying to put a damper on harmless fun but it does take away from the abitlity of the thread and the board to provide the information that is requested.

This thread is a perfect example.
Thank you!
