Post subject:  Costa Rican land

I was just wondering do any of you own any house, condo, land or bars in Costa Rica?

Just wondering why you would want to know that?

I don't yet but I am aggressively exploring that. FYI--one of the more resourceful websites I've come across regarding this subject and it's run by an American is: www.costaricatropics.com

A wise monger on the board says: "if it flys, floats or phucks (or it's CR real estate) rent it don't buy it." There is truth in it for most of us.

Renting a place for 6+ months, especially out of the US, might be a good idea to see what it's like to have a permanent surfing/monger base there.

Just the view from my real estate experience...

I know that there are quite a few CRT vets that live there full or part time know a lot more about this than my "newbie to CR" ass.

Just a thought...

There have been a number of threads on this subject this past year. In doing a quick search on real estate on this board I found the 2 following threads for review...
https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/vi ... eal+estate
https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/vi ... eal+estate

There are a number of sites to help with info including the board sponsor www.realdealscr.com  .

Also look at http://www.thecostaricaguide.com/ for a good overall guide.

Yes, it is good to rent first or know the market well before buying. Foreigners have the same rights as locals in buying real estate, but you need to protect yourself with a good lawyer and in my opinion a good realtor advisor. Interview a few...then talk to me 8)
