I've been reading a number of somewhat negative posts on Costa Rica and I'd like to pass on my feelings after 30 odd trips.

Yeah, I admit that I am a CR junkie..... and proud of it.

When you boil it all down, don't you just feel younger after your trip?
In Costa Rica you can walk, eat dinner, go dancing, have sex, go to a museum, go to the beach with young women that really enjoys the company of an older guy. They don't see your age as a liability, frankly, they see it as an asset.

Doesn't that just make you feel great?

Isn't it great to see some of the guys you have met from previous trips and enjoy their company unencumbered by a wife/GF from the states?
Doesn't that take you back to your younger years before all the responsibilities and obligations of your 30s and 40s? WOW man, how do you put a price tag on it.

I saw a recent post about comparing the cost of a trip to CR vs. the cost for girls in the states. How can you even compare the two?

The food is great down there and most guys I know usually lose weight because they are eating better and more active (probably because they are phucking a lot).

Sure, there are irritating things down there and certain dangers but look at all the advantages.

Where else can you meet guys like Vegas Bob, Circus, Gman, etc and share a common interest? Where else could you pick up a chica working in a restaurant, shop, or at a university?

Remember, you are in Costa Rica... here everybody can be a ROCK STAR. It's all how you look at it.

King Costa, funny that you mentioned it, but I just saw the movie Goodfellas (again), and remember the last scene where Ray Liotta gets up from the witness stand in court and reminisces about how the Goodfellas had it all, how they were on top and lived like kings?

That's how I felt in CR, walking through the DR or the Beatle's Bar or the other MPs aroud town. Felt like a Goodfella, living large, young ladies begging for my "attention' (read: dinero, but so what!), or wanting to hook up with me, a man above 50 years of age. And w/o the Goodfella violence.

But now back in the states, like Ray Liotta in witness protection, I feel like a "shnook" (his words), in my suburban hum-drum life. It's no wonder guys go back again and again.

King Costa sums it up nicely.

I got tired of the games the American women play. Unless you are close to the same age as them, or make at least 6 figures, they don't want anything to do with you.

I love the rest of the world. Age doesn't matter, money may not matter it's all about the personality.

I feel at least 10 years younger the minute I hit the ground.I can't think or anything more invigorating and you don't have to fly half way across the world to get there. The country has so much to offer that appeals to me I would be hard pressed to find a better option.I know the scene well and it doesn't have to be expesive if you are a bit frugal and you can have a awesome time.I spend very little more than $100 per day plus airfare for everything including two of more girls a day plus tourist stuff. To me it offers a value as good as anywhere in this continent considering I fly for around $300 and stay 4 days minimum but usually longer.rbc100

King Costa;
Man, you got it right.
That feeling you get - over 40 and feel much younger? Imagin if you were over 60. It's magnified times 100!
Good post.

I know what you mean ........ ahh the good ole days. Well, guess what, the good ole days are back again, alive and well in Costa Rica.

Sure, to a certain extent we pay for their companionship and company.
Like we don't in the good ole U.S?

I will tell you that a lot of the chicas really do enjoy the way most guys from the states treat them. And I will also tell you that they enjoy looking nice when they see us and act like ladies in our company.
I see many a Del Rey Chica with the gringos all around the country.
Many are dressed appropriately and act great and if you didn't recognize them from the DR, you would never know.

Man, you just have to savor each moment and appreciate what we have down there.

For anyone out there thinking of visiting CR, take heed. It is not as advertised. It is overrated. Note the following reasons to avoid CR...

1. the natives only speak Spanish
2. the food is terrible (they eat gallo pinto (rice and beans) every day)
3. it rains almost every day
4. the weather at the beaches is so humid, it's unbearable
5. the highways are terrible
6. they drive like maniacs
7. there is so much pollution from the buses and trucks that you will find it difficult to breath due to the fumes and black soot
8. the chicas always lie and are only after your money
9. there are two prices for nearly everything (a Gringo price and a Tico price)
10. the government is corrupt and inefficient (read about ICE)
11. the police are corrupt...they will stop you for speeding and request payment (bribe) on the spot
12. the service in all businesses is terrible (i.e. you will stand in line for hours at a bank)
13. everyone is a 'hustler', including most taxi drivers
14. in many cases, the casinos have 'strange' rules...you really have to be on guard
15. the beer sucks
16. the tours (rainforest, white-water rafting, etc.) are overrated
17. serious crime is on the increase

By all means, stay away! You will not enjoy yourself!

To be serious for a moment, KC is absolutely correct. The first time I visited CR I was 45. I felt like I was 25. Instantly 20 years younger!
The experience definitely altered some of my attitudes and outlook.

Good post King Costa

Having just returned from celebrating my 43rd birthday in May which was trip 5 in 3 years and I can say that Costa Rica has really changed things for me.

I enjoy the friends I have made and getting together with the guys when I am there. Just about everyone I have met from the board has been a great group of guys. Sitting at happy hour at the Del Ray watching the women at the rail, and there is nothing like having the beautiful women you have met coming over with a kiss and hug. Just sitting there admiring the women is a wonderful experience.

Exploring the city, the food, the rain forests and various tours, finding those gems in the massage parlors located all over town.

The expenses I have in CR are far less and better quality than what I would spend for company in the Chicago, and no comparison to what it would cost to be married!

My only problem is that with my current job I only have 3 weeks of vacation which limits the number of visits. I either need a job with more vacation time or to live closer to CR so weekend trips are feasible.

Until things change I have the posts here and staying in contact with the friends I have made makes it a little easier to survive between trips!

"It's good to be the King" in Costa Rica! My next reign will start July 4th.

If you've never been to Costa Rica, stay away. You wouldn't like it.

But me, sh_t I love every minute of it.

I share King Costa’s sentiments entirely. I am returning to Costa Rica in September. It will be my fifth trip in two and a half years (I’ve been going down there every six months). Every time I go there I discover something new. San Jose definitely has its problems but what place doesn’t? Besides the pros far out weigh the cons (no pun intended).

When I arrive in CR I immediately feel younger and when I leave I feel completely renewed. I speak the language perfectly so I am always clear about my intentions with the ladies and thus far I haven’t been disappointed.

My only regret is that I didn’t discover this place sooner. I’ll be turning 47 this summer but I look more like 37 and when I’m in CR I feel like 27. The feeling is priceless. As long as you don’t do anything foolish like over pay for sex (no more than $50), practice unsafe sex or fall in love you are guaranteed to have a tremendous time. Just follow the many common sense postings found on this board and let CR do the rest.

1. the natives only speak Spanish: ( I have money they don't care what language I speak )
2. the food is terrible (they eat gallo pinto (rice and beans) every day): (I like rice and beans)
3. it rains almost every day (the last time I looked the Blue Marlin had a roof )
4. the weather at the beaches is so humid, it's unbearable ( don't go to the beach )
5. the highways are terrible ( don't have much use for them )
6. they drive like maniacs ( I don't drive their )
7. there is so much pollution from the buses and trucks that you will find it difficult to breath due to the fumes and black soot ( a second reason I don't mind the rain it cleans the air )
8. the chicas always lie and are only after your money ( they tell me I'm handsome and they sleep with me for my money - I'm looking for the problem )
9. there are two prices for nearly everything (a Gringo price and a Tico price) ( they make 250 a month I do a good bit better I can live with it )
10. the government is corrupt and inefficient (read about ICE) ( and ours is that much better )
11. the police are corrupt...they will stop you for speeding and request payment (bribe) on the spot ( our police stop you for speeding and make you go to court before you pay the bribe )
12. the service in all businesses is terrible (i.e. you will stand in line for hours at a bank) (and just what is it you are doing at the bank that cannot be dun at an ATM at the Del Rey)
13. everyone is a 'hustler', including most taxi drivers ( if the girls were not hustling don't think I would be there )
14. in many cases, the casinos have 'strange' rules...you really have to be on guard ( I do not gamble )
15. the beer sucks ( stick to hard liquor )
16. the tours (rainforest, white-water rafting, etc.) are overrated ( not if you don't go on them )
17. serious crime is on the increase ( try walking through your local park at 2am and see what you get )

I first went to Costa Rica in search of a new job. I was in love and there was no way I was going to keep her happy on what I was making. In the end I did not get the job and she married and even older guy who could buy her a bigger house. After reassessing the situation I looked at it like this he got a 40-year-old cheating B---- that would cheat on him at the drop of a hat with me and I got Costa Rica. I love the place. It ant perfect but neither am I.

What a deal you got. You traded a 40 something Gringa bitch for countless trips to Costa Rica. You should be thanking her.
