I've noticed that a lot of the Ticas seem to be from Desamperados. Not sure if I spelled that correctly. Tried our "search" using the word & didn't turn up anything. I know its close to SJ, but don't recall ever passing through it. Is it a town, or a neighborhood?

Desamparados is a municipality in the Canton of San Jose. It is just south of San Jose is considered a suburb. It is mostly inhabited by middle to lower class Tico and therefore a lot of the "working" girls live there. Another popular area for the chicas to live is Hatillo which is also south of the City but is part of San Jose not a separate municipality.

Desamparados is a canton and Hatillo is a district.

Remember that every province is subdivided into cantones and districts

For example

Main Province San Jose, it has 8 cantones and 11 Districts.

Question: Is a district like a bario (ie bario Amon or bario Cuba)?
LVSteve
PS: My current GF lives in Desemparados and the ex lived in Hatillo.

Not really.

Although we tend to identify locations by barrio names.

A district is a distric and a canton is a canton, now some barrios can have the same name of the district or canton.

A proper distribution should be.

Province
Canton
District
Barrio.

Example.

Province = San Jose
Canton = San Jose
Distrito = Catedral
Barrio = La Dolorosa.
