with Adam Sandler as a regular guy and good father, married to crazy American bitch, falling under the spell of gorgeous Latina, Paz Vega. (actually from Spain)

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0891895/

Probably not a good idea to watch with esposa or S.O., as director/writer James Brooks seems to have some of our point of view on which way Sandler ought to go. Pretty painful to watch Tea Leoni's over-the-top portrayal of the nutzoid "soccer mom," in contrast with the noble and passionate housekeeper.

This one really hits someone like me, whose perspective is shifting more Southward by the month. Again, thanks to all Brothers here who are helping me see the possibilities and pitfalls of it all, and get up to speed in record time, for me anyway.

I reccomend renting SEX AND LUCIA from your local blockbuster. It stars PAZ as a woman who is experiencing her sexual awakening. She has a strip scene in which she is completly naked and she has a great body and a nice bush.

Have to admit, Spanglish was one of the better chick-flicks I've seen. The fact that the adultrous one was the chick made it palatable at home.

Paz is definitely a beauty...

is a theme definitely on my mind, since my 2nd C.R. trip. Just wondered if director Brooks had an angle on it. He made the Gringa a portrait in ball-crushing narcissism. Vega was someone that would make me be looking for the first opportunity to drop the bitch. "Thank-YEW!"

I had the house to myself, watching late at night, and I was rooting outloud for him, or yelling at him: "You IDIOT! GO for it! You FOOL!" with such an OBVIOUS gap in quality between the Gringa and Mexicana. "Getting back together" is just not in my vocabulary anymore.

I will check out "Sex & Lucia".

Finally seeing some discussion on this movie Spanglish. I find many parallels to CR in many different ways. It helps bring out the things we have seen in the two different cultures.

I started a thread a while back on this & got no responses so again I will say I believe it is a good idea to watch this one.

The director Brooks had just gone through a bitter divorce and he shaped Tia Leona's character from his ex gringa wife

Good review, Zippy. Yes, devoted mothers. Anyone notice differences with the few who aren't mothers?

Hankkh -- You nailed that one! Paz Vega rocks in "Lucia" -- I'll probably buy it.

I said I was screaming at Adam Sandler in "Spanglish" why he didn't go for it -- now I'm really wishing that one could have been written a different way (I know -- Hollywood and all, and it wouldn't have fit, too many stories in one).

She's on my watch list, for sure.
